Well I found a nice clean 1970 Camaro that I am going to go on that Pro Touring adventure. This is not going to be done over night, but a learning process along the way. I bought a 70 Camaro a few years back that was a little rough for me to tackle. I sold that car and bought a 93 Saleen Mustang which I miss but got laid off from my job and had to sell the car. I got a new job and saved up my money to get a new house and car. Well I found this 1970 Camaro on ebay and it's pretty clean judging from the pics the owner sent me. I'm not sure where to start on the car. I will be posting pics as I go along. The car will be delivered the first of Feb. I have followed a lot of awesome cars on this board. I want to build a car that I can have fun Autocrossing and cruising. I appreciate any help you guys can give me. I value everyone's advice and I appreciate the time people take to post up advice. I will post pics as soon as I get the car to the new house.
THIS IS HOW THE STORY STARTED OUT ON JAN 16th 2012 ......... IT DOESN'T END SO NICE. :( :( :(

Man I am pissed and bummed out at the same time. I bought this 70 Camaro off ebay. I paid the woman the $1000 deposit within the 48hrs as instructed. Since the car is in NC we made arrangements to go up to get it at the end of Feb or beginning of March. On Feb 16 (Thursday) I get a Facebook message that she is going to buy a minivan and she needs $2000 by Monday or she will lose her $1000 deposit that she put on the van. Now... I have asked her several times if she needed me to send her more cash and she insisted that she did not and would be fine until we picked up the car. I have all this documented through emails. I told her that I would try to get it to her but I needed something in writing that the car would be safe until I picked it up. Well I had completely forgot that Monday was Presidents day and non of the banks are open. Well.... I get an email from the seller that she has lost her deposit and she has traded the car for a minivan at some other used car dealer. I immediately called ebay and filed a complaint to get my deposit back. Ebay told me that through the "Buyer Protection Plan" I would qualify to get my deposit back... thank god. You know... I'm wondering if this wasn't her plan all along. She asked me a couple of times.. "do you really want this car? It seems like a lot of trouble for an old car". Man I have searched for months to find a decent deal on a good car. I wanted to get a 70-73 before these cars have gone out of the affordable price range. I'm a working class guy that can't afford to pay $10,000 for something that needs a complete restoration. This car ran and drove, I could've cleaned it up and had fun with the car while I was aquiring parts. I think I'm just gonna sit back and keep saving money. I'm unsure of what I am going to do at this point. I think I will stay away from buying cars on ebay.
WHY DO PEOPLE DO THESE THINGS!!!

Man I feel for you. Buying cars on eBay without an inspection rarely turns out as expected. There's an old saying: Be thankful for the things you wanted and didn't get. In this case you're hopefully getting your deposit back and didn't lose the other 2k.
Second gens are hot right now and sell quick. Do yourself a favor and wait for the right deal to come along and inspect in person or have someone do it for you...

Yeah I am going to just sit back and keep putting money in the bank. I'm really bummed out about it, but atleast I didn't get shafted for the other $2000. I know there's more out there and I will find one, it just sucks though. I'm just gonna be patient.

I know of a rust free second gen driver in the mid west in the 7-8k range. I should be getting details on it this week.

Damn..... not bad. Thanks for all the replies. I am waiting to hear from Paypal to see what they are going to do. They have put a hold on her account so she can't touch the deposit money until this is resolved. I will keep you guys informed.
