So as I promised to post this, here they are:

I'm proud to show my brain child:

Dimple Dies EVO II, 10 sizes, 1/2" to 3", integrated hole punch in every size, from Moc410M tool steel, heat treated to cutting tool specs
Rockwell scale: HRC56, should cut stainless like knife through butter.

I have to honest, I didnt make them, I desing them but my bubby did them with CNC-machine. I just deliveryd the steel rods for them.

Some are still burn oil dirty, some I just sand blasted cleaner.

Each size has normal dies has hole, a pillow (the ring) and a cutting die has M10 threats so can be work with strong bolt or HF manual hydralic hole punch set with new center bolt.
That I've already bought.

Normal dies hole is used as a guide to guide rod that is threadet on the cutting die, it is in other side of the pillow when hole is made at the straight edge on other side of the pillow. If working with shop press, just need to drill hole so the guide bolt get through to cutting material to guide dies together.

Anyone getting this?

I could polish them, now just clean them. They are tools not jewelry.

Made a test run with small ones to 2mm/just over 1/16" aluminium

If you are not going to use a hydraulic ram on them, then the larger ones need a larger threaded hole. I think they need to be either 5/8" or 3/4" or you won't be able to get enough torque to punch through. Otherwise, nice!

^ I know. That is only thing I would chance if I would do them again.

Would make threads to match hydralic punch rods.

Now they are so strong that cant make new threads.

I did use them on aluminium on fuel tank build. Made holes with shop press to baffles, they work'd great.

Here is the one I bought.. It is a JMR Portable Punch.. We machined a collet to hold it on a stand & fab'ed a quick stand.. I can remove it off the stand & work in a car if necessary.. works great up to 14 gage metal..

Actually not a lot.

I'm fortunated to have a lot of friends in right places.

And I have help them out, doing thing I can do for them.

fixing, building, welding, you know, man stuff...

One friend brings the steel rods from near by steel factory, price: one case of beer

Another friend teach CNC-machining near by school, programming and machining them, price: coffey and buns. :hail:

Another friend ( my goddaughters father) works at same steel factory that made the steel first place,he works as post-processing boss: heat treatment is in his department, price: bag of coffey and bag of buns.

So price of those is under 100€/ ($130), not bad, sence ordering one set from US would cost me over 1000€ ($1320) when incl. shipping & import taxes.

Okey, it takes time and effort to make all happen, pick stuff up and drop off, desing them, students to make them. ( it's took a long time, around 6 months, then ready dimples waiting for students to heat treatment them it took around two years (they forgot them), them I pick them up and asked my friend if he would take them to factory for heat treatment. It took just 10 days to them to push them in the middle of they prosess. :willy:

And now we discover that 4 smaller sizes are not correct material, they didnt get hard enough to cut holes in stainless. Maeby I will have them remade from propper stuff or just that I'll have to make hole w/holesaw or HF pusch set. :( I still can use normal die and pillow, just not the die w/ blade.
