View Full Version : 1970 Charger Pro-Tour Build - aka "Punishment"

verticalflight

I am building a 1970 Charger, fully modernized, from the ground-up. The name of the car is "Punishment."

The work is being done by Dave Salvaggio, in Milwaukee: http://www.salvaggioautodesign.com/

Dave also built the 1970 Challenger known as "Insidious." Pictures of that car are here:
http://www.amcarguide.com/custom/cle...ge-challenger/

I'll post pics here as the car gets built.

Im assuming the shop sent it out to Restoration Specialists in Franklin, WI.

I really like this car. The interior looks great. The see through inner fenders are a neat touch. Are you planning to drive the car much? If so, may I suggest covering the inner fenders with some of the clear tape/paint protectant stuff. That way you can still clean them and protect the clear plastic from pits etc.

The car will be at the ARMO booth, related to HRIA.

Good idea on protecting the inner fenders!

Thanks! I'm James from Upholstery Unlimited and aside from the CNC'd trim rings, oem visors, and Auto Meter gauges, I hand fabricated everything inside the car so far. I'm excited for everyone to see it for themselves next week and if any shop owners have this sort of position they need filled in the Arizona / Nevada region (I'm done with snow) I'd love to hear about it. Thanks again for the great comments guys, it means a lot!:burnout:

I don't know how you managed to create such an illusion of depth in the door pocket like that, but the LED accent lighting just looks incredible. Combined with the dash instruments this is one of the best interiors I have seen in a while.

I don't know my Chargers that well, but if I didn't know better I would think the doors have actually been widened based on how "wide" that top flat shelf portion is. I am widening my Mustang doors and they look like that now.

It would be interesting to see more of how that door glass was flush mounted and all that was involved in that. I'll look back through this thread but I don't think its in here.

I see you guys used the new steering column. We did the same thing except we used the factory steering wheel. Not fun to make the horn work with out an airbag inside. It is nice having tilt and a telescoping steering column. Looks great!

We see a lot of top quality pro builds on this site and I get as jaded as anyone. i checked out this car a few times and really liked it, but while I like Mopars the Charger isn't my favorite early body style, and my build style preferences a bit different than this car, but I keep finding myself coming back to this thread and checking out the pictures again. I think its the interior especially that is really turning my crank, but the late model tail lights and paint quality are so good too, and the "unnoticed" details like the flush mount glass - anyway a 2nd set of congratulations on capturing the 'je ne sais qua' of pro touring.

So I am wondering What did you use for the wipers or how did you manage to hide it.

Thanks
