Anybody used an Exedy hyper carbon triple disc clutch? I've been researching clutches for my track car project and would like to run a triple disc clutch but, the car will see some limited street driving and I know most triple are tough to drive on the street but, the Exedy is suppose to be tolerable. I'm looking for feedback from anyone that has used one.

Know lots that are running the quartermaster clutch for road course/auto cross work. May want to check it out.

Kyle is running the QM triple and I drove it, it's tough to drive on the street, you have to pretty much raise the rpm's and dump it to take off. I'm looking for something that is more capable of operating at partial engagement more smoothly than the Quartermaster.

Hey Tim - that thread on PT was a good one. I really liked the Pfadt option if I were to go that route ($). I'm curious - since you're planning on limited street fun - why not get a McLeod RXT? I know it's not a triple, and it's not CF, but seems like a decent compromise. OTHO, if you're going all out 10/10ths and that's it, than make no street compromise and get what you want and can afford.
No matter what you decide please do update this thread when you make a chioce and install it...

Ron, the reason for the triple is to reduce mass to aid in shifting and the only reason I'm considering this car for limited street use is most of the ASCS events require a street cruise or at a minimum driving to and from the track. I'm already in this car pretty deep financially so I want a bulletproof clutch but just like anyone else I don't want to spend any more than necessary but I don't want the price to determine the choice either. I will keep updates and start a build thread once I get the car back from DSE and I start my portion of the build.

I get it. You're going for the win. Car looks killer, BTW.
It's a long (expensive) road your travelling. These compeitiors are very very fast and they've been doing it for years. They show up w 200 TW race cars - lexan, carbon fiber, no interior, Jerico transmissions (Dave), dry sumps and more. To get within a .5 sec is a major accomplishment.
You could very well be a fantastic, experienced driver which would put you right up there but some of these guys have years of experience on you and VERY deep pockets. From what I see on DSE's site, your car somewhat resembles a street car. Getting into an arms race right out of the gate may be an expensive lesson - and I'll bet there's a phase 2,3, and 4 on your car to shave off those last 10ths.
If it were me (it's not) I'd still go RXT w an alum lightweight flywheel and save a few G$ now. You can tune your car with it, see how much you enjoy the competition, and then sell it used to step up. Plus sooner or later budget could be an issue, right?
Anyway whatever you do more power to you. I'll be cheering for you no matter what clutch you buy. GL!
Edit: Trailers are allowed! :D

This ain't my first rodeo building a car, I've done a few show cars. That car ain't what it appears, we thought a lot about weight reduction, the bolt on body panels will all be carbon including the doors, the cage is all chrome moly, the dash is a one piece fiberglass dash and weighs 4#, the motor will be dry sumped, the radiator is custom built with liquid to liquid coolers for the oil and power steering cooler, the trans is rockland tranzilla with an internal mechanical pump for the cooler, the rear is a full floater, the third member has an internal pump for the cooler and was dynoed @ Roush Yates. I've researched every part on the car for performance and weight.

Tilton 7.25" triple! That will likely be my next clutch.

When is your car going to be ready?

Payton, DSE is wrapping up the exhaust, cage, and few other little bits and then it will get blown apart and the firewall and floor will be painted and reassembled as a roller. I'm going to finish the wiring, plumbing, and interior. I'm guessing DSE will have it back to me by mid march at the latest. Once I get it back I'm going to go at it hard all day everyday until it's finished. I'm shooting for the Kershaw event but we'll see how it goes.

Yeah, pretty good deal for a track car. Add some lights, register it and there's your Optima ride Dave...

Heh, I surely hope Optima does not turn into that.
Don't need 50 American Iron Extreme cars there.

That's a smokin deal for sure, but one of our sister companies builds engines I'd only be interesred in the clutch. :D
