Anyway this can be used with stand alone controller? Otherwise no way to use it w/o an 08+ gm ECU correct?

Trans is for a CTS-V and the tailshaft conversion is to use a driveshaft instead of using a torque tube.

Wait, what? Is there a stand alone controller to use this tranny with. Last I heard there was not and it could only be used with an 08+ ECU. Is that still the case?

Sorry 454ssguy , i should clarify. Mastmotor sports told me i would need to use there ecm and hareness , there ecm tells the trans controller what to do and the trans controller is inside the trans, i was told.Speartech is also working on this set up , i believe they are using a gm ecm to control the trans.Speartech has been doing this set up for awhlie now.

That lines up with what I've been hearing. So just to clarify, theres really no way to use one of these trannys w/o runnin an 08+ LS motor. Still a good deal though, but I'm sticking with my BBC for now.

John @ Speartech has a setup for this. I have a 6L80 that I bought from a member on here a year ago that I'm going to be putting in my 68 C10. I have an brand new LY6 (basically an iron block LS2 I was told) to mat up to the 6L80. Before I bought the tranny, I called Speartech and asked him what I needed to make this tranny run correctly in my truck and he instructed me and told me he has the necessary components to make it run...the pedal, ECU and harness. All comes in a complete package for around $1600. I'm gonna port the heads, upgrade the cam and intake. Then call John with the cam specs, rear tire size and gear ratio for the ECU tune and be good to go. By the way, this is an excellent deal for someone. I paid over half the seller's asking price and my 6L80 wasn't new.

Im was going to put that 6L90 behind the ls-9 i have and most people(including trans shops)says it wont last behind 700hp. The ratio has quit a big drop from 1st to 2nd and then it cost over 6000 to make it strong enough to handle alittle beating, just about everybody says i would be happier with a 4L80.here are the ratio's
----4L80--- 6L90
1st 2.48--- 4.02
2nd 1.48--- 2.36
3rd 1.0---- 1.53
4th .75---- 1.15
5th -------- .85
6th -------- .67
