I have a 65 Mustang that is on 2 inch drop spindles in the front and 2 inch blocks in the back. I just ordered 17's for the front and 18's for the rear. I wanted 40 series but the guy at the wheel shop says i should go with 45's. Does anyone have pictures of the different sizes on those size wheels so I can see the difference. Plus what is people's opinion? Thanks

How wide are you talking? I think the 45's will be too tall, especially on an 18 in a 65 mustang. Go with the 40's?

I agree, a 45 sidewall is pretty tall. I think the 40's would look nice.

They are 17x7 up front and 18x9 in the rear. I thought that 45 was gonna be too tall. Especially since my goal was to tuck them since im running 2 inch drop spindles and 2 inch lowering blocks. Wheels and tires are foreign to me but I knew that guy was wrong about 45s. Thanks a lot guys. I appreciate the help

the side wall is a percent number and the actual height is determined by the width of a tire.

X2...without a width, you can't say. You should be looking first at the overall tire diameter, there are many calculators online. The next thing from an aesthetic standpoint would be to make sure that you have similar amounts of sidewall front and rear with your 17/18 diameter stagger or else it will look funky IMO. This means that your rear tires should be 1" larger in diameter than the fronts.
