I have a Tremec TKO 5 speed. I was wondering if it is ok to start the car with it in neutral if the driveshaft is out. I would assume that it would not hurt anything. The reason I ask is because I started the car with the driveshaft out of the car, and the tranny in neutral. When it was warming up the speedo was bouncing around 10mph. I don't know if the vibrations of the car warming up would cause the internals to bounce around since the driveshaft is out or not. Hopefully it doesn't hurt anything to do this.

When I fired up my Chevelle for the first time, it had no driveshaft, and it was out of gear (T56). I had just a yoke in it to prevent any fluid from leaking out of the trans, and when it was running, I looked under the car and the yoke was turning. So maybe your trans was actually spinning to around 10mph.
I don't think it'll be a problem.

With no resistance manual transmissions will spin slowly in neutral, just from the fluid pushing on the gear teeth. Even in neutral the input and main shaft is still spinning.
So yea completely normal. If you would have looked in the tail shaft you probably would have seen the splines turning, so it was actually probably turning 10mph.
