Not sure if this goes here or in the suspension area, but...

Story first...I was driving my 1965 Chevy II home in traffic a few weeks ago, all was good. Then all of sudden after sitting in stop and go traffic for 25 min or so I start hearing this clunking sound from the front end during quick breaking. I was hoping it was hot breaks but no, it's still happening.

Background...the breaks were freshly bled, new driver front line to the caliper. The master and booster are new. Front disk, rear drum. It's a Heidts front clip, drop spindles, mustang II geometry.

Detail...the clunk doesn't happen on slow/coast stops, but if there is any nose dive due to stopping it is very prominent....almost like a "roll-bang" if that makes sense. I can make it happen by bumping the breaks hard as well at slow speeds. I haven't noticed at high speeds but haven't gone over 20 since the first incident.:(

We were thinking it could be a sticking caliper, wheel bearings, hub???? Any ideas on how to trouble shoot this? Thanks!

make sure the bolts to the steering arm are tight the rear one that supporrts the brake bracket also, often comes loose I have seen a few like that when doing suspension

If your brake hose isn't attached to the frame it can cause a noise associated with the pressure.

Are all the suspension pivot points tight?
Do you hear this under hard acceleration?

Just found it! The cracking rubber a arm bushings in my heidt clip decided to vanish!....well at least most of them decided to vanish. Any one know what the replacement sizes are for them? Heidt wasn't open today and I'd like to throw some poly graphite ones in.

warning, lube that bushing up real good or you'll go from a clunk to a squeek
