My build thread on Team Camaro starting with a well worn 68 Camaro , replacing all the rusted panels , modifying and customizing a few select pieces , going through the painstaking process of aligning all the sheetmetal and setting the gaps and making everything fit as it should , among other things , and documenting everything as I went . Here is the build thread

http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=121480

Several issues and conditions have made it clear that I am going to have to sell the Camaro without finishing it So I am biting the bullet and putting the project up for sale . The thread and accompaning pics pretty well tell the story of the build and what was replaced and done to the body and suspension . The parts replaced were :

entire front sheetmetal w/ cowl hood
DSE firewall fill panel
dash
toeboards L&R
one piece floorboard
one piece trunk w/dropoff panels
rear outer wheelwells
DSE Deep Tub inner wheelwell
tailight panel
trunk lid
rear valence
package tray
roof
complete quarter panels L&R

The entire skeleton was media blasted , epoxy primed and coated before any sheetmetal was put back on , the car is literally rust free in the truest sense of the word !

The mods that I made to the car were , of course , the DSE Deep Tubs , giving you 14.5 inches of tire clearence in the rear , moving the rear spring mount in 1.5 inches on each side to achive this . Relocating the rear shocks inboard of the spring utilizing custom shock towers integrated into the trunk floor/body .

Custom built subframe connectors , welded into the floorboard but not intruding into the passenger area .

A customized /notched stock fuel tank , with baffling added .

The stock front subframe has been completely welded solid , a custom tubular trans crossmember , the Guildstrand Mod , all welds smoothed and welding slag removed and QA-1 coilover conversion shocks mounted into stock spring pockets and modified stock lower control arms . It is setup for stock disc brakes , but I don't currently have a brake setup for it .

Firewall has been smoothed somewhat with DSE filler panel and relocated windshield wiper motor (under the D/S fender w/lengthened transmission arms ) Holes filled converted to cable throttle , filled wiring holes in firewall to convert to new EZwire harness that I have .

I narrowed a Ford 9in rearend with GM disc brake setup to fit a center backspace wheel . I planned to run Calvert Racing leaf springs and CalTracs on the car but have not purchased them , so the spring pads have not been welded to the housing yet . It would be simple to install a DSE Quadralink or other aftermarket suspension at this stage , as the wheelwells are already done and no suspension attachment points have been welded to the housing . The housing currently has a spool , a 3:70 gear and Moser 31 spline alloy axles .

The car has a rebuildable , unassembled 6.0 iron block LQ4 engine with L92 aluminum heads w/PRC valve springs and titanium retainers . No intake system , as I was planning to use a edelbrock carburated intake and carburator but have not acquired them yet . I have a truck acc setup and a modified camaro oilpan to fit the chassis. The trans is a good Turbo 400 and motor/trans is mounted in the subframe with BHP adapters (I think?)

The interior is an original Deluxe interior with console , seats need recovering but door panels are good , everything is there including chrome on door tops and quarter window bases . Car has the gauge package , including the original Tic-Tock-Tach and console gauges . Console and trans tunnel have been slightly modified to accept a Cheeta SCS rear exit cable shifter that looks like it came in it .

The Camaro was originally a 4-speed , small block SS car , Island Teal with a white vinyl top , A/C , p/s , p/b car. I couldn't even start to estimate how much time that I have into this car , let alone money , and it makes me physically ill to consider selling , but the current conditions make it necessary . I am asking $12,500 for the package . If interested please PM me here or email at [email protected]

Here are a couple of pics of the car , there are 54 pgs of pics in my photobucket account and a ton of them along with the build saga in the build thread . Here is the photobucket account

Guys , I know that the economy is in the crapper and money is tight everywhere but I am curious about a few things here . I've had this car advertised here for about 10 days or so , over 300 looks but no replys or interest at all save my buddy Jim . Help me out a little here , am I doing something wrong here ?

Is my price point too high ? I know that it's not a giveaway price , but not unreasonable either . I do realize that a project of this magnitude and at this stage isn't for everyone but I thought that there would be more interest , maybe I'm being too impatient and just need to let this thing eat for a while .

I do realize that some are kind of leary of a car with this much metal work but I assure you , this isn't my first rodeo , I have several completed projects and 30+ years in the hobby , there were no shortcuts or shoddy work here and I would not be trying to sell under different circumstances .

I need a little feedback here Please , you aren't going to hurt my feelings here , just need to make an educated decision on what way to go on this , Thanks

Terry - don't sweat it. You built a nice shell and your effort shows. There are alot of factors that go into when a car sells --

* Some may not want the exact package you have put together.
* The holidays put a damper on any project sales. This will change in Jan!
* It usually takes a month or more to sell a project car. My last 68 roller took four months. The new owner now has a build thread on PT.

My advice would be to just chill and see what happens. Is it listed on Team Camaro? Also maybe offer it couple of ways so buyers have a choice. $12.5 is high for a project but right for what you have put into it...

Is this the only place you're advertising it?

You'll need to broaden your advertising. Have you tried craigslist? Or ebay?

300 looks is a drop in the bucket, a good ebay ad will get thousands of looks.

As Ron said December is a tough month to sell. Put it on Ebay with a Buy It Now price, even if it doesn't sell you will be getting a ton of exposure.Good luck with your sell.
Kevin:thumbsup:

Thanks guys , I guess I just needed some encouragement and just need to chill and let the process work . The car is listed on Team Camaro , Racing Junk and I have been considering listing it on Ebay . I sold a streetrod truck on ebay a few years ago and that was quite an experience , all kinds come out of the woodwork !

Ron , you mention offering it a couple of different ways so buyers have a choice , care to elaborate on this ? Possibly less motor and tranny ? That's an option that I would consider , not really much else that you could separate from the package . I'll have to ponder on that .

Again , Thanks for the feedback and any advice or critique is welcomed .

Looks like a fair price. I would do Ebay with a buy it now and require 500.00deposit at close of auction.

Terry,
I followed your build on Team Camaro. You did a great job on it. It will sell and someone will be getting a very nice foundation for their project.
I'm sorry you have to let it go. I remember how hard you worked to get this far.
Good luck with the sale.
