I have respect for those guys, its more than I would do. I know the guys that do this stuff make good money, the guys at work that work on radios make 100,000/yr and had to take a pay cut to work for the state.

The helmet is for OSHA..My nuts got pains just watching it also. If he was really cool he could jump with a chute when he was done.

Yeah -- but wouldn't you have to ask the question -- "why would a guy want to jump off a perfectly good tower"?:willy:

I'd have such nightmares over a job like this. OMG..... I'm in awe of anyone with a set of stones this big.

Greg, I posted this on here a while back but I have no where near the status you do on here so it didn't get much attention.

Forget the 30 lb tool bag, what about the 2 huge steel balls they have to drag along with them.

Dang,:wow: what a rush! I have walked many of walls building houses....walking a 2x4 wall on a 2 story house with a walk out basement over looking the lake is about as close as I have come to anything like this. Its maybe 30-35 feet if you were to fall. Im not scared of heights, but 100k a year wouldnt get me up there on that tower....

My stomach sank and I went flush as soon as they cut to him being on the tower. I found it very hard to watch. I guess you might say I have a fear of heights. :_paranoid I think Id rather jump out of a plane than climb that thing.

The video won't load on my iPhone, but I'm assuming it is of the guy climbing the monster radio tower?

I was roofing a technology building under a 1,900' tower here a few years ago and they were installing a new "antenna" about 3/4 the way up and it absolutely blew my mind watching them!! They used the elevator thingy just the first time the set up thier "lift" and used theirs the rest of the time. Did I mention that theirs was hanging off the side and went up with a cable!!! Off the side!!! They had a anchor man below with a rope of some sort to keep them from swinging in the wind too bad. But they still swung about 20-30 feet away from the side of the tower!! Those guys told me than they didn't make that much money. Just like $20/hour, which IMO is NOWHERE near enough for me!!! LOL.
I've also heard some crazy stories about icicles falling off those things and going THRU cars and trucks parked below! I know that one fell here a few years ago because of ice buildup and it melted off one side quicker than the other and got it off balance. Would have been crazy to see go down!
