This build has taken 3 years to this point. The 1st paint shop went out of business a few weeks after i dropped the car off and he took my $4,000 deposit with him. The second painter/body shop had the car for 18 months. I had the car for about 6 months after the car was finally painted, but soon realized that the shock towers had not been notched correctly and had to take the car to another shop to have the engine fit. I received the car back from the most recent shop in June, but due to two other builds, i could not resume work on the car until recently.
Anyway, here is the build from start to current progress.
1967 mustang fastback purchased in Spring of 2008. Bodywork started in late 08 and then modifications were made to engine compartment etc, starting in 09 when the 4.6L terminator motor was purchased.

This is the point where i stopped and took the car to the 3rd shop to have the shock towers notched further back, the intercooler, radiator, reservoirs, etc installed, have the headers fit, etc. Initially the overpriced RRS notching kit was used, which probably would have been fine, but the first shop installed it incorrectly-they did not follow the templates i provided and the towers were not notched far enough. In hindsight, the motor should have been fit before the car ever even though about going into the paint booth and before the notching kit was welded in place....live and learn. In addition, it would have also been cheaper and smarter to simply buy plate steel and cut it out myself instead of buying the notching kit and paying for shipping from Australia-doh!

Shock Towers notched further back for more clearance-total waste of time and money. If you are going to do this type of conversion, use a suspension like the TCI system that eliminates the towers

And here is the video i made when i got the car home in June. It sounds like i am redlining the car, but i was only bumping it to about 4,000rpm. Warning, it gets loud around the 44 second mark.
Little did i know at the time that the alternator wiring was hooked up backwards, the power steering pressure line was sitting against the drivers manifold, none of the power steering lines were tight, wires were touching the headers, oil pan plugs were not tight etc. and so on. Always thoroughly check other peoples work!!! It was fun cleaning up two quarts of power steering fluid off the garage floor. Fortunately, the power steering line is wrapped in Kevlar, which prevented it from melting. It was only slightly singed from the manifold heat. I was also fortunate that alternator did not burn out. The shop had already had the unit rebuilt at my expense once due to the wiring mishap. It helps if wires are labeled correctly. :)
Official Run Video
Enjoy! Please keep in mind that the 02 sensors and exhaust from manifolds back are not even hooked up yet. Actually, you will figure out that the exhaust isnt hooked up pretty fast. Rumble, Rumble! Exciting times!!!

And here is what I have managed to do since i brought the car home in June. As i mentioned previously, i had to finish another ongoing build, so I did not really start working on the car again until about 6 weeks ago and it has been on and off since then.
The welds were not finished on the towers, which was ok because the RRS system had to come back out to receive its new 400 lb springs anyway. The 275 pd springs that were installed are no match for the heavy 4.6L motor.
Before. Note: I did not run those wires, but i got to rework them. They fell right out of the plug that connects to the coolant pump for the supercharger. Nice!

After two layers of bondo and lots of sanding. NOTE: dont ever try to use the BONDO brand they sell at your local auto parts store. I thought it would be ok for the shock towers, but the stuff was terrible. I went to the paint shop yesterday and purchased some Rage filler.

9 hours total spent on making over the driver's side shock tower. The front suspension is back in, but i had to remove all of the power steering lines because not a single fitting was tight, one of the lines was right on top of the driver's rear header tube, and the lines on the front of the engine were a little less than a 1/4" away from the engine belt and were held together with a zip tie. While i had the power steering lines out, I was able to see that the wiring for the alternator was run incorrectly, which was causing the battery to receive a steady 16 volts while the car was running. This was causing the expensive Optima to percolate acid and also fried the alternator once already at the last shop.
Before. The wires that were run through the brake line hole go the alternator. They were draped over the suspension and run under the frame rail. Very nice and not my work. The main feed wire to the back of the alternator was run next to the shorty headers, where it would have eventually either fallen into the header and burned up, or best case scenario, fatigued from heat over time.

And here is my most recent update. I spent about 50 hours reworking and rerouting all of the chassis wiring and some of the computer wiring, deleting excess vacuum lines, making new engine grounds, reworking the brake lines, fixing the trans tunnel, wrapping the chassis wiring, removing excess wiring, tracking down wiring that was installed incorrectly and causing issues or going to eventually cause issues, etc and so on.
I had a set of TCP shock tower braces left over from another build and decided to see if i could make them work. They would not clear the intake tube, so i turned the bracket 90 degrees towards the rear of the car and drilled new holes. Although i am not really sure how much good/bracing these links actually provide, I do think they add a nice touch to the engine compartment.

Update from late last week Might be somewhat redundant.
I cant even begin to count the amount of small things that I have done to the car in the past two weeks, but it has certainly kept me busy.
Here are a few pictures of some of things i accomplished yesterday evening and tonight.
Finally finished the chassis harness wiring, or at least all of it that runs under the dash, wrapped the wiring, removed the steering column, repainted the dash around the gauge cluster, installed the gauge cluster, installed all AC ducts, relocated fan temp sensor, relocated crank sensor wires and wrapped them, wired AC compressor, installed a new ground for the fan, ran wires for trinary pressure switch, welded metal in to fix the shifter cut out, finally organized all wiring running to front of the car, wrapped all wiring running to front of car, and installed weather pak connectors on lights and wiring.

Congrats on your perseverance. I know how long and how hard I struggle with even the smallest things like routing a hose or wire correctly, and then marvel that ANYONE is wealthy enough to pay someone to do this correctly . So it never really surprises me when people have these kind of problems with shops. One has to really be rich, choose a well respected shop, or be a bit lucky to make sure everything goes without a hitch.
IN fairness to shops too, I can't count the number of times I've found my own mistakes - ie loose fittings, poor routing etc. After a change I never drive further than one lap around the block before its up on stands again for inspection. THen its a slightly longer drive around the block and so on.
Anyway, congrats, enjoy the car, I like everything but the Carroll Shelby signatures.

way to stick with the build! how are you liking the front/rear suspension setup? I ask because im running pretty much the same front setup and the rear setup your using from TCP is the one im contemplating on!

Thanks for the nice comments. I have no idea if i like or dislike the suspension at this point since the car is not drivable yet. I'll certainly let you know when i get it on the street though.
Anyway,Better photos of the car with the hood in place. I haven't worked on it in almost two weeks, but i plan to start back on it this Sunday. I will of course post progress photos as they are available.

Yes they are... all of all things to notice. The car isnt even on the street yet. ha! I just threw the wheels back on in a rush the last time i had the car on jack stands and did not notice that i put the left tires on the right side and vice versus.

Spintechs mufflers with supercharged 4.6L = awesomeness.
The pipes are just loosely fitted in the two videos below that are spliced together and the passenger side muffler did fall off after I hit 5,000 rpm on the second segment, but still, they sound great. These mufflers will sound different with every engine. I just want to throw that out there so that i dont get blamed at a later date for a 302, 351, etc. with spinteches not sounding the same as my car. My engine will sound far different than a 351W etc. due to the different pulse of the valvetrain. Remember, this engine has 4 cams not 1.
The sound quality isnt great in the video and the fuel pump that came with the MTF aluminum fuel tank is way too loud, but the exhaust and engine do sound incredible in person when the mufflers aren't falling off and I step back from the interior to get away from the whine of the pump. If the fuel pump is still that loud after installing the divider panel, etc. then i will probably need to change it out. With that said, it still gives you an idea of the sound and i personally like it. It is quiet at idle and cruising rpm, but really aggressive under hard acceleration.

Easy now, it is still not on the road and it only has about 3 gallons of gas in the tank. I'm working on it, i promise. :) Hit another snag today with the fuel system, so the exhaust still isnt installed. Whoever made the tank for Mustangs to Fear decided not to clean out all of the aluminum shavings after drilling the holes for the fuel pump, sending unit, and filler neck. I'm just really glad that I had a very good inline filter in place, that i did not run the car anymore than i did, and that i decided to look inside the tank see why in the world the pump is so loud-mounting bracket is the problem.
Thanks for the compliments.

I didn't mean for my comment to be taken negatively. Sorry. I have a mustang too and there aren't enough on here. Im glad to see one as nicely sorted as yours.

No worries, i was just letting you know that it isnt final because the battery was not yet in the right location and there is very little fuel in the tank. That and the treadwall size on the rear tires are smaller than the front, so that creates a weird look as well. The rears should be the thicker size like the front. The summitomo tires are just temporary and will be replaced after a few hundred break in miles.

Made the bracket to go over the tank that holds the amp and will now hold the optima battery as well-I moved it from the drivers side of the trunk. Why i put it there to begin with, i have no idea.

Seat delete trimmed and temporarily installed. Excuse the fiberglass dust. Quarter panels were also trimmed to fit around roll bar.

Why the wiring takes so long-each fitting is crimped, then soldered, and then I put heat shrink over the wire and connector.

Had to remove the fuel tank due to some issues, so i went ahead and put herculiner on the trunk floor and then rolled the quarter panels and outer wheel housings with satin black paint.

I posted a video after the photos. It looks like a photo, but if you click on it, it will play. I'm using a new camera and i am still learning its features, so excuse the initial focus and the focus when i move from the interior to the engine bay.
After twelve hours of trying to make the front exhaust pipes myself, I threw in the towel and took the car to another exhaust shop. This shop had the front pipes fabricated in less than a day and they look great. The mufflers are now installed, but i still need to add flanges to the spintech mufflers and to the pipes that exit through the rockers and into the tips.
Just a couple days of work and an alignment rack away from being roadworthy. Now i just need to find a couple of days to work on it.
The plastic you see in the photos is in place to protect the carpet, seats, and rocker panels.

Thank you so much for writing about your experience which this restomod.
I also am installing a 4.6 Terminator into a 67 fastback. My front suspension is from RRS.May I ask what motor mounts you used? I have tried using those from DVS but the engin sits to far forward.
Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
