Hey
Im new to this forum but i have seen some nice projects on here. I need a bit of advise. I built an 8.1 Vortech and going to put it in an 96 Impala SS. The problem i have run into so far it the motor mount on the crossmember is staggered but it is not on the engine. Should I just drill new holes in th x-member?

if the mounts are staggered or offset to one side, that's usually done to make clearance for something like the steering box, exhaust, etc. If an LT1 came out of there then a big block should bolt to the same mounts/pads. That doesn't mean it will clear everything though, the big block is much wider than the LT1, oil pan clearance maybe an issue, etc. But as far as bolting in you should be able to take the LT1 mounts, bolt them to the big block, and have it line up with the frame pads. The mount pad on the block of a small block, LT1, and big block are the same.
