Shortening axles

Can an axle just be shortened or does the spline need to be re hardened? I'm talking maybe 3/8"

9 inch? Not an expert but I think you can do it, I know in the past some of my drag race buddys have done it, BUT they did alot of stuff I would not do on a street car. Hopefully an expert will chime in Wayen on the hardening axles! Good luck

They are just a touch too long, I need the ends trimmed. I'm not sure if they just cut them or anything else is involved. I'd like to find asomeone near me that can do it to hopefully save some shipping and time.
