I heard a rumor that there will be a 69 Camaro with a twin turbo 406ci LS2 at SEMA 06... and it's owned by one of our members. Hmmm, I wonder if the owner will step forward and fill us in. :unibrow:

Scott's like the CIA databank for Pro-touring, and he gives up information just as easily as they do too!

Congrats to whomever it may be!

LOL, well, the hype is coming out now - waters are being tested - as it might be in a major booth. All parties involved are interested in what we think of something like this.

Jake, you know me, pictures are always a big deal... and somtimes we enjoy artwork just as much. :D

No, not Mark, Charley or Stuart.

It's a pretty cool deal as it's looking to be in a high profile booth. We're just trying to create a little buzz. :)

The owner only asked me to drop and hint, start a bit of hype, to see what the interest would be. That's all I really know, and it looks like there's a lot of interest.

So my guess is now JimHamptons car! If he is around he should bring it to one of the NE gatherings this year!!!

I agree with Jake. I know it isn't Stielow, and I'm mostly sure it isn't SW. What I heard from a guy who knows a guy says that Pascal will have a 69 like no other.

Pasqual was planning on having turbos on his car... that is until the goats in his yard ran off with them and chewed them to pieces. :P

Here it is-

http://www.rscamaro.com/images/rsCamaro/3-4_front_hood_up.jpg

A little background-
Fellow car enthusiast Jeff and I had decided a long time back that the car was right on for a trick motor; something that would "keep up" with the chassis etc...
After many discussions ranging from C5R and beyond, we came back to what was about the first really serious discussion. Build a solid LS2 with the appropriate internals to make 700 or so RWHP. I was going to supercharge it, but the ultimate decision was made to go with a twin turbo setup.

Also in the mix will be a transmission change. Likely going to be a 6 speed, but I am still considering a 4L80E + The ultra cool Shrifter setup, later going to the 6L80 (GM 6 speed auto) once a controller is available.

Vendor selection is not complete at this time; I am still looking at the options and have a couple of shops competing for the job.

We will also be doing a new website for the car and once the process begins in earnest, there will be regular updates with pics as they become available. We are also going to follow through on an idea that I had from a long time back- Keep a complete BOM with all parts, vendors, specs and costs associated with the build and publish that for all to see. Likely as simple as an Excel sheet which can be downloaded. That will be supported with dyno sheets, fuel maps... everything we can to put this project and the results out in front of everyone who is interested.

Sure, there will be folks who see the data and say that our fuel curve is wrong or we do not make as much HP as their uncle from Katmandu. We are aware of that issue and are not concerned about it. The main reason for doing this is to document the mix of parts and the outcome of the parts + the tuneup operating as a system. Is this the perfect way to settle all engine discussions? Nope, but it does give us a well documented baseline. It will simply be saying "here is what we used, here is our tuneup and here is the result it delivered on a given day."

As in the case of the original build of the car, I have to manage this project via remote control from Asia; I am fortunate to have a very good friend and gearhead working on this for me stateside and a good pool of potential vendors to select from.

More details to come later.

I believe the car is over here on the east side though.

Yeah, the car is on the east side of the Mississippi. And so is the owner. He's just on the FAAARRR east side.

PhaseShift, I'll be in Shanghai and Kunming the week of the 20th. On the off chance that this puts me in your neighborhood we can talk about our projects and I'll buy the beverages.

67Sally- I would say that it does not look good for me being in the Shanghai area around the 20th. I have to travel a lot this coming couple of weeks, but not that direction. Vietnam and Philippines...

If you are in the Hong Kong or Shenzhen area, I would love to have a project discussion over a frosty cold Tsing Dao.

Phase Design takes pride in serving the coldest beer in Asia. Unfortunately, that is not saying much. Those of you never having been to Asia (China in particular), lets say that there is not a lot of emphasis put on serving _cold_ beer. Cool = probably; cold = rarely.

Bill- The vids are all in a list on the following site- http://www.rscamaro.com/

Right click to save the vids; they do not stream very well.

Excellent! I really like the idea of tracking and publishing the actual costs. I'd like to see more of that real-world data.

Scott, maybe this could be the start of a section where people could not only see engine combo's but a true cost-to-build.

Prodigy- I can not say who just yet, but there are 3 parties interested, one of which is a pretty serious client to Phase Design- They have a substantial involvement in the auto sound market.
