Here is a link to a thread I started on a Volvo Discussion Forum about Swedish Skunk Werks first customer pay build.. I am not really sure where I went wrong with insults, or if I am just too insensitive.. LOL
It is a fairly short read right now, and the logic is a bit comical. I have been run through the coals before, but never like this.. I wish I had more Pro-Touring support accross the pond.. LOL

Robert,
You will NEVER EVER EVER please everyone. You have some cool products. Maybe this guy being a mechanical engineer is pissed off he didn't think of it first?
Either way, having critics keeps us on our toes and honest. So chalk it up to one of the few you will never please. Don't let them get you down.
Congrats on getting the first "full build" customer.
That volvo is going to be really cool when its all done.
Good luck!

Thanks Eric.. I didnt post this because they were getting me down, just dont really understand the disgust.. LOL Some of their reasoning really doesnt make sense, but a minority continue to spout stuff off.. The fact is, they cant parent themselves, every post has my name on it, and it is very easy to not click on it.. LOL

Don't worry about the Na-sayer's.Take this chance W/your first full build and run With it.Do the best job you can possibly do & Don't let your customer down. Some people need a Big brand name like Exxon or Richard Petty to feel compfortable. They think if they have not seen your name in print somewhere you aren't any good.Prove them wrong by doing a good job.

Scott, that is a great perspective, and I share it.. I have had several people travel accross the country to just come and look, then add themselves to the build list, so I take that as approval.. I have 4 Amazon's on the waiting list, and another p1800, but I want be sure that I get all my guys and system in order.. I am really trying to achieve a assembly line style capability with these products, and that is why everything is made for the car and direct bolt in..
BeCools is doing my direct replacement Aluminum Crossflow radiators, Speedway Engineering are doing my Direct Bolt in Mod-light 9in rears, Vintage Air is doing our AC units, Ididit is doing our upgraded direct bolt in Steering columns with tilt option, my glass company is doing the Flush Mount Glass Kits and one Piece door glasses..
We have several other items we are working on like Flush Fit LED tail lamps and park lamps, Direct replacement upgraded door and interior panels, I am having some custom Roof Racks made (Yes, a Pro-Touring style car with a roof rack)
We have partnered up with several major companies to make these items available, which makes our catalog and build cars possible.
Here is the roof rack.. LOL

Your handle still sucks....:D
I know I know, but it is so hard to let it go, I have had it for so many years. LOL
And besides, when I go to sleep, the world and everybody in it disappears, so I might be the only real one.. Just kidding, but I couldnt resist. LOL

I never understood why people got all pissed off about what people do to their cars. Maybe because I'm only 24, but honestly, if you want to put a newer engine in a 50 year old car, wtf is the big deal? Who cares if someone puts a Ford motor in a Chevy? If you needed a heart transplant, would you care if it came from someone who wasn't American?
And LOL at the guy in the thread that said "American cars need those mods because they're only good for 1/4 miles. Even with all those mods, they wouldn't handle anywhere near as good as an AC Shelby Cobra."
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Shelby himself say that the Cobra handled like **** and was flimsy as a wet noodle?
Also, off topic, but what's the status of flush mount front/rear glass for 3rd gen Novas, robert? :D

At times, folks have a particular mindset and cannot think beyond it.
For example, I did a post on a Corvette website asking about 19" rims. Went over like a lead balloon (I'm putting ZR1 suspension components on a '64 ragtop).
In the end, it's your money, time, effort, etc. and if you have fun with what your doing, all the better.
Illegitimi non carborundum!
Great advice from all of these guys.
Let the build speak for itself.
Have fun with what you are doing.

Keep doing what you are doing...The folks with the loudest opinions are most often people who have never built anything.

Be glad you're not doing a Pontiac with an LSx! Same types of responses!
Do what makes you happy and pleases the customer!!
Personnally I love the little Volvo!! I'd love to have one for my daily!! Talk about fun!

I think until you challenge and defeat that other parts vendor on the track, they're going to keep stonewalling you and categorizing you (and us for that matter) as a bunch of unsophisticated knuckle-draggers with quarter-mile crap cans and bad taste. That bunch seems like a huge waste of emotion and effort. That's really an argument you'll never win. As already mentioned....I'm sure Shelby wasn't a popular guy with that crowd years ago either. Move on.

You should do a Dodge Dart with an LS engine like me if you really want to feel the hate!
Don't let those wankers on the Volvo forum get to you, I never want a Volvo until I looked at the ones your building.

Im going to go against the grain here and say that theyre not in the wrong here, You've provided no evidence at all that your setup is better than stock, and theyre just asking for hard numbers. Sure it is adjustable and has coil overs, but neither of those in and of themselves don't necessarily makes the car any better.
What are the changes to sprung and un sprung rate? Have you performed a burndorf analysis? What are the changes to ackerman( what is the factory ackerman and did you go more or less positive and why?). Have you plotted bump steer in a dynamics analyzer? Have you measured the actual bump steer since you have one complete now? Have you dyno tuned the shocks to the spring rate and package?
Show hard data, both in theory and in application that its better, how its better, and then you'll have belief in your product!

You are doing the right thing, you are bringing a product and service to market, a product and service that people want and are willing to pay good money for.
There are always haters and selfish people who are willing to do whatever it takes to tear someone or something apart. They are just destructive, because they can be, it's a sickness really.
Everyone who is successful gets this kind of treatment, you’re doing something right, so just know that this is way to be sure you are on the right track.

Try doing anything to a vintage VW that isn't restored or Cal-Look. Let alone putting a watercooled engine in... I was a bit down about it at first but it really got to be funny after a while, I embraced the hate. Purists are hilarious! :D
My handle, Ketzer, is german for a heretic. (a person that goes against established beliefs). Maybe you should start calling yourself Kätteri?
