Guys I am finally getting very close to body and paint work on my car. I need all the help and advice I can get. I really want to paint my car this color blue. I have a 1967 chevelle and I keep researching blues and I can seem to figure this out. I know you guys are experts so any information will help.

Guys any suggestions would be great. I am not trying to get the exact paint code off of a picture just want to narrow my search down and when I go speak to the paint job hopefully I can give him ideas to see how we can match that color. Once again thank you.

It could be Marina Blue Metallic, Jet Stream Blue or LeMans Blue. Not exactly sure though.
If it is Jet Stream Blue, be prepared to pay some high dollars for that.

Print that pic with a good printer and take it to your painter to do a couple spray-outs to see what they look like in person. Great looking color.....dont know if it's been "highlighted" for the photo

yea I am leaning more towards a lemans blue but the color seems to be metallic. I think the photo has not been messed with at all. It is just the angle of where the sun is hitting and some areas where the sun does not hit are a little darker. Marina blue is to light and that blue is darker like the lemans blue. For sure I am not trying to get into a 2 stage or 3 stage paint job. I just want a one stage and I am thinking just like 3 coats of clear. I am not sure. This is for sure one of the hardest decision I have ever made in my life lol. Thanks for the input guys.

Ford mustang Atlantic blue or Mazda 3 winning blue. The color is a bit washed from all the sunlight

those are very close also damnnnnnnn lol. I was also looking at the jet stream blue but I am not looking for a 3 stage paint at all. I wonder if someone makes a 1 stage jet stream blue? But yes those two blues look very similiar to the color I am looking for. Thanks a million bud

I'm sure you've come across this link on TEAM CHEVELLE website, but if you haven't take a look for orig. codes. Marina Blue Metallic comes close to what you're talking about. Good luck with that, and congrates, you're almost there...

Much better, imho, to look at new cars on dealer lots rather than trying to match a photo. Find a color code of a paint color you like then get the formulation from the manufacturer. I suspect there are many paints close to what you are looking for.

Does your painter have color chips you can see?

Check GM Wave Blue Effect 482P/22U and Space Blue Effect 413G/23U.

BTW, 2-stage is considered a basecoat/clearcoat. Are you trying to use single stage paint as base and apply clearcoat over? I'd stay away from that method, unless you want your new paint job to be as thick as two regular paint jobs, this is the reason why basecoat/clearcoat system was designed,to eliminate the thick build up and give more depth and brilliance .

Thanks for your advice I never even considered that. I didn't even know what 2 stage paint was to be honest lol. I tryed googling those colors you told me and nothing came out. What company are those paint codes for? And yes I was planning on doing a base coat and may be like 3 or 4 coats of clear I thought that was the proper thing to do. But I see more people doing a basecoat/clearcoat all the time and the car looks great also.

Wave Blue Effect 482P (DuPont) 22U (GM code) , Space Blue Effect 413G (DuPont)23U (GM code)

Use basecoat /clearcoat system, not a single stage color with clear over it, because you'll end up with paint thickness equivalent to 2 or 3 paint jobs, single stage metallic colors do not have the depth you get with basecoat/clearcoat system.

can I search those colors on line or do I need to go to a dupont dealer so they can show me?

jeff let me ask you something. I have a 383 small block for my car. I am planning on having a th400 built I am not sure if I am doing 4 speed or auto yet. But I had a one piece floor installed and I dont have a cut out for the tranny yet. And I also don't have the tranny yet either. In about 4 weeks my car is going in for paint and I am painting the bottom of the car as well. What should I do just cut the opening after its painted? or is there a diagram of some sort I can go by and just measure it and cut it open now?
