I had a 17x8 on the front with a 245 tire without a problem, but i cannot remember the back spacing...4.75 stands out for some reason. If you have a 5 inch you can adjust with spacers if needed. I would be more concerned about the rear. I assume that you are running disc on the rear so the BS is correct. The 285 tire is going to be real tight, as in some fender lip mods. On my friends 68 conv the 275 is very tight.

The fronts would fit precisely, you might as Payton say need some spacers. I have 17X8 with 4.875 BS and the tires just barely touch the frame when the suspension is loaded.

Just remember a 69 has 1" wider fender than a 67/68.

i think you would be happier with a 35 series tire.i am putting 245/35/18 and 295/35/18's on my 69 vette.

On my '68 I had a 17x8 with 5.25" bs, and a 255/40 17. Tire rubbed the frame some at full lock. No biggie IMO.

I don't think they make 35 series in these sizes in 17's. At least not when I was doing 17's.

I wish that someone would have pointed that out to me when I was researching tire sizes for my 67 I at first bought 17x8 x4.75 bs with 235 45 and they stuck out past the edge of the fender a bit. I got my info from guys that ran that set-up on 69s. I now am waiting on new 7inch with 5.00 bs and 225 tires.

Hey whats going on? Ok, I have a 67 camaro with nothing done up front but 2 in drop springs. I am getting ready to buy rims, can I put 17x8 on the front without them sticking out past the fenders? If so What bs should I order. Any help would be sweeeeeeeet.

Thanks for your time!

Going to have to ditch those drop spindles if you want to run a 8" in the front. Drop Spindles that I've used on a 1st gen allow about 4.25" bs max. I tried 4.5" on a '69, and had to grind the tie rod some to clear. That's not enoguh bs for an 8" wheel to fit.

Many have used that size combo on the fronts of 67-69 Camaros with no problems. Have not tried them with dropped spindles though. I'd think they'll be fine unless your car is super low.

I have 17 x 8 245's up front with with Budniks on a 68 camaro. The backspacing is 4 7/8 according to Kyle with DSE. No issues. Make sure front frame is straight on body of car or could have one side closer to inner fender than the other. This happened to me. Greg
