Took Penny to Arnold Nebraska for the Sand Hills Open Road Challenge and to check another item off my bucket list. This was from the shootout held on Friday. We were going to run the full mile, but didn't realize we needed a six point harness, so we ran the half mile. This was my first run and I shut down through the traps, unfortunatly they were the wrong ones so it was only a quarter mile blast.. DOH! -- In my defense nobody told me they had flags at the finish. The next run I did 147.6 mph but found out I needed to shift to 5th.. last run was my best with a 148.9 mph! Not bad for an NA car at 2,800 feet. Thanks to Optima Batteries for the invite and I can't wait to go do it again!!

There was a huge group of PT cars there including Bill Howell, Brian Finch, Yanch Johns, the DSE Tuckers, Bret from Ridetech and a bunch others. Great event and you should go if given the chance!

Hot Rod TV was there to cover the whole event so keep an eye open!

Damn man that's cranking in the half. Sounds awesome too. It's one thing to do it in a Z06, but in a 1968 anything- that's a different sensation!

steve what does bp weigh? and what does the motor dyno at? thx, rm nice run

3300 dry.. 3600 with me and a full tank..

At one point BP was 3180 with some gas, but that was with full CF and since then I've added some tunes, a fire system and various other "bits"

Dyno (chassis) was 590 rwhp and 565 ft-lbs as I recall..

Very nice Steve. Car sounds killer. Looks like traction wasn't too much of a problem during the 1st three gears.

Nope.. but I think you had a "slight" aero advantage

The 24' enclosed and car were maxing out the 5.3L .. especially going home from Utah to Vegas where it was 107 degrees (loooong uphill)

And blowing three trailer tires didn't help.. but I made it back.. :woot:

The road was a slury of rocks and cement.. not very traction friendly.. I think the car hooked somewhere in third gear.. :unibrow:

Car looks good. Did I see where you were coming to RTTH?

Last year blew 3 trailer tires going to Motor State. Nothing sucks more, especially when you are in a small town in West Virginia and they had to call the next town to bring a tire...all the tire stores in town had gone out of business.

Another video I found online.. this one is of us starting the road rally challenge part.

Not sure on RTTH.. travel budget is thin and I'm going to LSFest.. if RTTH was the next weekend (like last year) it would be easy but I have to fly home and fly back out again..

Shane sent me this video from the spectator area.. sorta cool to see it from this angle. This was my fastest run.. wind noise sucks but I thought I would share. If you go on YouTube it's in 1080 high def.
