Can someone help me run the #'s on this block. T1108HB
The date on the cowl of the car is 12C.
He said he ran the #'s of the motor when he bought it and it is an original SS350 drivetrain car. Can someone help me confirm this is the matching motor?

HB is a 69 350 / 300 code. it is probably a 386 (last 3 numbers) casting number. It should have a VIN on it also. If the last 6 of the second set of number match the last 6 of the VIN (not the trim tag), Your iynn like flynn

Do you know where those codes should be on the block?

69 and older cars, it should be on the pad on the front of engine. This is where the other number you posted above was right? Should be located on same pad. The numbers you posted are usally 1/4" size, the other one is 1/8 size. Or visaversa, I am having an old age moment right now.

Also, the VIN could be located under the car on the raw engine casting on a vertical pad just above and in front of the oil filter

would there be a web site out there with this information? I have a similiar situation also. I have a 396 (T1201IV Front Side) ( 3902406 Rear Side )that I would like to know what it came out of, And I also have a buddy that has a 67SS and he would like to see if his #s match. Year one says you can find the info on it's web site, but i have had no luck locating it?

Camaros.net has a section for decoding numbers. Very knowledgable people.
MorTec (http://www.mortec.com/) is a great resource.

The only thing i could come up with was;
T= Tonawanda or Flint Mich.
11= November
08= Day of Month
HB= 350cid/300hp/1969 CamaroSS
Hope this was some help :thumbsup:

It is common many 396 cars had the stamped numbers by the oil filter. It is difficult to explain where it is, but if laying on the ground, looking from the left side up at the motor, in front of the oil filter is a pad going veritcal abouth 4" long and 3/4" wide. It is rough casting, laquer thinner on a rag will help make the numbers show up as the paint stay in the numbers. I have had many big block cars this way, and rarely small blocks.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately I had deburred the block and heads , the only #s that still are visable are the #s on the front of the block and the back of the block. After some research today it looks like it came out of a 67-69 Chevy Impala 325hp.Thanks.
