I performed the most awesome mod this morning.

At least I'll tell myself that.

Truth is, a friend had been using my car hauler for a couple of weeks and I got use to just backing my Camaro out of the shop for extra space...without looking. He brought the trailer back late last night. We parked it right where I have been moving the Camaro.

So this morning as I was backing it out...SMASH!

I hit the tail lamp bracket and it punched a nice hole through the inner and outer rear body panel. Some how it skipped the bumper.

Ugh....

Oh well - stuff happens.

Oh no!!!

Well, now you have an excuse to repaint if you want right? J/K, that sucks.

Have you tried a buffer yet?:)

That sucks, I know how you feel, I backed into my wife's cousin's truck with my quarter .He was visiting for few days. But I was able to massage the quarter and some buffing got it looking better.

The rear panel is actually punctured through with a nice window all the way into the gas tank cavity.

The right way to fix this will be a new rear body panel. I don't know if I can pull that off and not have to get into the quarters for paint...or not.

Then again, might be cool to shoot the lower portion back red then do a satin between the lamps.

I'm going to go ahead and get an estimate next week and see what all a professional things it might need.

That is unfortunate, but it could have been worse. I hope all goes well with the repair

Results in...and survey says...

$3,700

Hard to believe. I don't have the estimate in hand yet so I'm not sure what all was added. I do have extra labor to fill the trunk lock and the bottom of the inner/outer rear body panel weld flange is rolled, smoothed and tucked under. It is a little detail that was easy to do when it was on a rotisserie - but will be really tough looking up side down.

Okay, now that the 68 bird is out of the shop I'll be jumping into this repair soon.
