Anyone have recomendations or thoughts about headers for a 69 big block camaro?
2" with 3 1/2" collector. I want non-coated so that they can be ran on the dyno and then coated.
Debating between Hooker and Doug's
I'm also leaning toward the 3" rear exit x-pipe system from pypes performance.
The car is a convertible how much does the bracing in the undercarriage affect the exhaust system?
Thanks in advance

hookers, plus might as well coat them when you first buy, dyno's wont hurt a coated header,or at least i have never had problem with them

had the super comps in my 69 they are big you have too lift the motor and aa bit of steering too get in and out not a lot of clearence underneath but if you not too low allgood but still had some hits

If you are looking for an off the shelf header the I would go with the Hooker Comps, not super comps, they seem to fit the best as the super comps are an equal length header and the fit is pretty tight. If you are using aftermarket heads you will need to grind on the flange to get them to fit...I had to on a set of Edlebrook retangle ports.
I believe that Tyler's company, ATS, is going to be making some really good sets, but it will be a stepped header with a merge collector...I cannot imagine they would be cheap, but probably the best fit and most power.

Thanks everyone for the input.
I've got the brodix BB-2 plus if anyone has any experience with those heads & headers.
I'll drop Tyler an e-mail

look at stainless works. They make some nice looking stainless headers.
I agree that super comps don't fit at well as the regular comps.
I have the supercomps, ground clearance is poor. They scrape less with the hotchkis 2" lowering springs than with the stock bbc spring I had though.

Aren't the Brodix a raised exhaust port? If they are they'll probably not work. I used http://www.lemonsheaders.com/ for my 69 once I swapped to Dart heads. My super comps no longer fit.

per phone call with Brodix the heads are a raised exhaust port and they recommended Hedman headers.
Anyone with Hedman experiences on 69 camaro?
Thanks
camcojb - thanks for the link I'll check with them also

Try Sanderson. They have a very nice 3/4 length that will keep your clearance issues at bay. Very well made too! I have the shorty small block headders on my Dad's '56, and a 3/4 length big block headder on my '72.
Shiny Side Up!
