Thought I'd post a little BrainTeaser!
Is this an early Pro/Touring car or an all out Sports Car??
Clues:
Debuted in 1970 one week before the Pantera
American Design
Mid Engine
Built in Italy
American V8 Powered
Production: "LOW" (6 Cars exist today)

New Clue:
The same ZF Transaxle they used in the Pantera could NOT stand up to the torque of it's small block powerplant. they had to use a custom built Melara Transaxle

Looking in the link that Jody posted It looks like the smae car to me so I guess what Joby said AMX/3. Oh and I want one very cool looking car :thumbsup:

Well I guess for AMC, it was a Year late, and lots of dollars short! But you have to give them credit for trying to built a mid engine sports car when GM wouldn't attempt it. I guess the guy in charge of production in Turin, Italy was an ex Ferrari race engineer.
But can you imagine seeing that parked next to a "Gremlin" at your local AMC dealer in '71???
