Brushed wheel

I have Boyd coddington smoothie II's, there polished and I think there the cast wheel. Here's my ?, is it possible to get the wheels brushed or even do it myself ?

Yes. I have chrome wheels from HRE and I'm about to send them back to have the chrome stripped off and have them brushed and cleared. So, yours will be a less involved process.

Get a red scotchbrite pad and get busy. Brush in one direction only to keep brush lines straight as possible. Lot of work,but when it's done it's a lot less maintenance. I did it to my budniks,best thing I did to the looks of my car

Slightly off-topic but, for three piece HRE wheels, wouldn't it be a whole lot easier for HRE to just supply you with a new set of shells? I can't believe anyone would go through the effort and expense to strip chrome/Ni/Cu off of a set of shells in order to get back to bare aluminum, when new aluminum shells are readily available...?

I guess I should have clarified it. It's the centers that I will be getting brushed. So, to strip of the chrome and to buy wider rim halves, as I will be widening the rear wheels from an 11" to a 12.5", is still way cheaper than buying new centers. They are only charging me $100 per center to strip off the chrome. Not too bad IMO. Now, I am incurring some other costs by having the centers cleared and buying wider rim halves. I knew I should have bought brushed wheels at first! :lol: My wheels are full chrome now, so I will be keeping the chrome hoops with brushed and cleared centers. All in all, it will cost me $1400, which would have been $1000 if it wasn't for that dang ole chrome. :mad:

i too am wondering the process? i found a nice set of used forged wheels id like all matte black, how easy would this be?
