Hey Guys,

I have had a build thread for a while in the projects section but I am getting to the point where I have changed plans more times than a woman, so I am starting up a new, clean build thread following my progress from this point forward.

My current build is a '08 LY6 converted to non-VVT with a single S475 BW hanging from one truck manifold and one F-body manifold. All this is packed into a '69 442! Recently, however, I stumbled across a ProCharger set-up in this very same forum and couldn't pass the deal up. Most of my turbo stuff is already sold and the Procharger stuff should be here tomorrow!!!:chug::nod:

I am pretty far along in the build...getting ready to mock up the Procharger and swap out the current cam for the LS9 I originally had in there.

Running a GMPP Single Plane and replacing the elbow in the pics with a high flow Edelbrock elbow or possibly and intakeelbows.com elbow, they look pretty sweet. I am just not sure whether I will have distribution issues with the low profile elbow. Anyone can chime in with their experiences/thoughts.

And you will see a Lingenfelter MAF in the pics...they have proven it to 750hp and that is north of my goals so that is good enough for me. I am planning for a 10sec slip the first time out and have a wager with a turbo friend of mine for $100. Here's to hopin'!!!! :chug:

Here's some pics!

What the Procharger will look like..

http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/ff183/jashell1562/JasonNova-11web.jpg

So this is where I am currently at...Since I already have the Vette Accessory drive on the car currently, I am going to use the accessories and may sell the rest for someone who needs it.

I am relying on Bob at Brutespeed for the rest of the needed brackets, BOV, and ATI Balancer as soon as I get paid for the Turbo that is selling on the 'Bay tonight.

I am sending out all the piping to be coated and I am UBER excited about this as I originally wanted a procharger but couldn't afford it before.

I have a few questions about my set-up vs. pulley sizes if anyone wants to chime in...

What is the standard pulley on a D1SC 8 rib and how much can we push a LS9 cammed 9.6:1 LY6? It has L92 heads, ARPs everywhere, but otherwise stock rotating assembly.

I want my 10-sec slip!!!!

Thanks guys!
Dave

Hey Steve,

Yea man...I saw that and almost pooped my pants! :faint: :wow: :willy:

I started talking with him back and forth and seemed to be the only serious guy...couldn't believe it. He emailed me back saying he was ready to deal and $2200 later it was in my lap...shipped....brand new. He was a real good guy to work with too. Did I mention he threw in a crank pinning kit and a Procharger intercooler!

I am thinking since I pretty much have the wiring buttoned up...I would like to see if I can have her running within the next month. I have made it a point to completely stop using the credit cards to build this car because while I have no real issue paying it back, I refuse to pay interest. That payments I choose to make now are just ridiculous and it is my fault. Sooo....I'll slow down the build a little and learn some patience.

I'll keep this updated as I just took a break for a few....going back out there now.

Thanks :lateral:

ah I see you're using Jason's car as inspiration. I used the same car to help me with putting the Procharger in my car. Good luck with the build! Seems like a sweet project

Alright! LS9 cam is in! Swapped out the Lunati for the LS9 this afternoon and I am happy to announce the lifter retainers actually retained the lifters and none fell into the pan.

Anyhow, here is a close up shot of the elbow in question. It will give me aplenty of hood clearance but I am concerned that its low profile may lead to uneven distribution to several cylinders...any thoughts?

Welp, when I got home from work today this was waiting for me!!!

After dinner I lugged it out to the garage and tore into it...

Probably won't be able to use the intercooler but it was cool the previous owner gave it to me.

Here the main bracket is installed:

http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac289/Bandit79403Dave/IMG_9364.jpg

Followed by the D1SC:

http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac289/Bandit79403Dave/IMG_9372.jpg

Met my first snaffu of the install...Since this is an LY6 and not an aluminum LS1/2/3 etc...I am missing a boss and some tapped holes on the block to install the power steering pump.

This:

http://i908.photobucket.com/albums/ac289/Bandit79403Dave/IMG_9368.jpg

Should look like this:

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a341/tuff57/IMG_0107.jpg

Unfortunately I am just out of luck with one of the holes as there is just no boss at all, but can still drill and tap the available boss toward the edge of the block. I plan to fab my own combo bracket if necessary to get this thing in the right position.

More to come tomorrow...I'm beat...

Hey Steve,

Unfortunately the power steering delete still needs to have the three bolts. An engineer by profession I am already whipping up a nice little bracket that can be used with the existing kit with minimal modification. I will offer it to anyone who needs it on the truck block that wants to use the LSX Transplant kit.

so what your saying, that I will need this piece so I can run the procharger set up on the 5.3 iron block,

I will post up some pics of what I do...it will be very simple to do yourself. You will need something to get you that third hole that isn't there on the 5.3 block...OR you could try a Truck ProCharger set-up....I do not know if it will clear everything.

I will document what I am doing so that it is clear for anyone doing this swap with the LSX Transplant kit what needs to be done.

Very nice set-up. I am very seriously thinking about putting a blower on instead of my twin turboes. I will be following your build and see how you like it.

Very nice set-up. I am very seriously thinking about putting a blower on instead of my twin turboes. I will be following your build and see how you like it.

I originally started as a single turbo set-up (actually originally NA build that snowballed) but I found that I couldn't cleanly package it without quite a few exceptions that I didn't want to make...namely brakeline routing and hotside pipe routing.

I came across this procharger set-up and it was a ridiculous deal I couldn't pass up for brand new. So yea...I'm going backwards a little, BUT I already had headers and need an intercooler regardless so it was a no brainer for me. Plus no concessions will have to ba made anywhere else.

Your TT set-up will be sick. I'll dig up a link of someone doing one on Pro-Touring or LS1Tech (can't remember which right now) that has it in the same body style. You can't go wrong with it but I just feel for a cleaner package with less piping (for me) this was the way to go. Plus my 10 sec goal was pretty modest.

Good luck with whatever you decide...I should have my brackets sometime next week, since they are ProCharger direct items.

Dave

A bit of updates...had to pull back on the build slightly to get her up and running. Had some issues with the recent hurricane and needed to sell off some of my stuff )Turbo and Procharger) so I wouldn't bang the credit cards...I refuse to spend money on them since I blasted them on my wedding...lol. :fire:

Anyhow, here's where I stand: boxed up the turbo piping for now and threw in a stout Lunati cam, wrapped up a set of fbody headers and switched up to an Autokraft pan. Got the vaporware tank installed with a 5th gen camaro pump and a single line to the front. I used Carl Casanova's tank harness up to the front. Got the PCM mounted and am currently working the rad and fans...bled the brakes...probably forgot a bunch. I will be going back to turbo once I get it running as I have the CTS-V fuel pump in a box on my shelf. I will still have to get Carl's PWM controller for the pump...all in due time.

Oh btw, the headers in the pic are for sale because they don't fit with the Autokraft pan unfortunately.

As for the color, I am actually thinking of staying with the Saffron yellow...it is so sleeperish and ugly I love it!!!

Enjoy the pics!!!

Here's and interesting fact...because I upgraded the rear in my 84 cutlass race car a while back from a 7.5" rear to a 8.5" rear I had to shorten the driveshaft one inch. Well, it just so happens that because I am using the 4L60e and a 12 bolt rear the stock length drive shaft from an a body is shortened 3 inches and is exactly the same size as the one I had!!! Direct drop in! Curious thing though is that I cannot seem to locate a decent set of u Joint girdles...the jegs ones don't even remotely fit. Any assistance would be appreciate there.
