Not sure if this should go in the "engine" forum or "chassis" since it deals with both.

Can anyone tell me which (if any) of the factory front acc'y drives on a LS motor will fit a stock second gen subframe?
I have seen first gen frames cut for clearance but I am in the dark on second gen fitment.
Oh yeah, WITH A/C & PS.
Thanks for any info.

I am fairly certain (although not 100% on 2nd Gens) you can use a Corvette acc drive which puts the PS and Alt up high. You may want a kwik bracket to relocate the AC up high as well.

I went this route. Google the part numbers listed and you'll find a diagram:

Good luck Eric!

No, the LS engine is no problem in a stock frame. But the accy drive with AC may or may not create a clearance issue depending on which drive set up is used.
What I want to know is which factory set up will bolt in without any problems. Or which components from different drives need to be combined to get the same end result.

I ask because I know that first gen stock frames have had problems clearing some front drives.
I am not up to speed on the different drive systems and second gens.

Hi Eric -

You should be good with the Corvette accessories as mentioned and then use the Kwik bracket for the a/c.

Not the best pic but here's my '72 with a LS1

Thanks Ron.
I noticed in reading the thread above that the VA kit will not work with the stock GM ac compressor, and that I will need to buy the VA/Sanden compressor and the kwick bracket to make it all work with the LS2 front drive system?
So confusing.......lol!

So while looking through old magazines I came across a great issue. Its the 2011 CarCraft engine swap special edition. One of the articles covers ls swaps and gives part numbers for all OE front drive components along with aftermarket (like Kwick) numbers and descriptions too.
It also has pictures of several factory drives and gives tips on what fits where in which car.

The article covers headers, engine mounts, crossmembers, efi and trans controllers, OE & Ftermarket part numbers, descriptions and lots of great swap tips.
Cooling is also covered.

I am glad I found this. It might just keep me from asking too many redundant questions. Lol!
If anyone else has questions and cant find a copy of this issue please feel free to PM me. If I can find a part number or help in any way, I will be happy to look it up in the mag.

Oh yeah, it also covers ford and mopar swaps from old style to new engines....(mod motors, hemis, all that stuff)
