Just got my new DSE front subframe ( to replace my stock one that got bent)...

For my stock subframe I bought all the pre-bent stock type brake lines etc so everything just fit and bolted to all the stock spots. With the DSE sub I noticed that there are no frame tabs or bolt holes to mount all the brake lines etc. When I place the stock brake line that runs across the bottom of the stock frame to go to the pass side front brake it overhangs quite a bit when it goes up and over the rail...obviously since the DSE one is much narrower in that spot....

So for all the guys that did the DSE sub.....did you make custom lines, weld on tabs etc etc ?

Mine is all assembled and powdercoated so I dont want to weld anyhting on....

I guess my best option would be to cut that line alittle shorter, bent it and re-flare it...... then drill and tap any holes where I want to mount brackets etc.

I was just curious how other guys did their lines and frame brackets for the brakes

Started with a roll of brake line, clamps, brackets, and a pipe bender and went for it.

as todd said, other then i like to start with straight lengths of brake tube, as when they roll it you can never get it real straight again, plus you dont need any real long lengths to do that.

I agree, I'd use long straight lines to start with next time. I just wanted the fewest connections possible and the local part stores only have 4-5ft sections.

Hey Ned,

Thes clips are nice and will do the job for you. Just drill the hole and push in.

the baer brakes come with a tab you can attach with tapping frame bolts. I rebent the lines on the 79 we just finished but if i would have thouhgt about it before mounting the engine, i would have made my own. some where I have seen some billet half blocks for holding brake line on this forum, should make it easy to attach them. It is on of the few things I keep begging DSE to make is a brake line kit.

Welcome to hot rodding.....

Make it - modify it - re-invent it - start over - nothing fits - nothing is stock - no two things work together.... Dude! That is what this hobby is all about.... if it was easy... the fat chicks would be doing it. :woot:
