Man, this is awesome, the car should be very fast after this. Those coil overs look killer, I might have to see if I can save up enough dough to get a set for the javelin.
Thanks,

Why would you change out a set up that clearly works? Especially when it's your design...The 2 link rear set in Kevin's camaro worked well but as I said it has it's limitation's.It was desined to work for a guy on a budget. It work's very Good. But in order to Show up at an event and at the end of the weekend be faster than Brian Finch and Kyle Tucker we needed to make some small change's in the car.And when Bret Voelkel ask if we would be willing to try some new RideTech triple ajustable Shocks and 4bar how do you say no.Kevin was the one to say yes or no.We had talked about reworking his rear suspension so he could get more forward bite off the corner's before Bret came to us.And when he made the offer it was Kevin that said why not try it.It's more important to me to see Kevin do well than about me making money.I just want Kevin to do well and this was one more way of seeing that it happen's.Thank's Scott M.:lateral:

The car is complete and driving.Rained all day so the roads were wet.But Kevin said right off the bat the car has a smoother and softer ride quality. We will need to get w/Bret V. and talk about starting point's for shock setting's.Kevin is going to drive the camaro to the Planes, trains,Auto's this weekend so he will get some more drive time.Thenhe can give more feed back on the street manner's,but will have to wait untill Desmoines goodguys, for all out performance.

thanks everyone for following along with the install of the ridetech products on my camaro. So far im really happy with the way everything came out...the four bar kit fit really well and the shocks are top notch...very cool pieces. like scott mentioned the first thing i noticed was how much better the ride quality was on the road. I haven't got the chance to thrash on it too hard yet but so far it seems to handle really well and im anxious to get it on the autocross and pound on it. thanks again to bret voelkel and the crew at ridetech and also wanna thank scott for helping me with the install and Tom for helping with posting pics. will post more updates as i drive the car more and play with shock settings.
thanks

I don't think I've ever seen my name used so much in a thread! :)
Don't thank me...you did the work. And you will be reporting back to all these guys on the results...good, bad, or indifferent. The good stuff is all assumed...we want [and need] to hear about the stuff that needs improvement...whatever that might be.
As I replied in my email a couple of days ago...shock tuning is VERY subjective. And it is also just one area of suspension tuning. Tire pressure, sway bars, driving style, track conditions ALL play a very important part of getting a car to go fast on a given day.
I am trying to work out to be in Des Moines myself...we can make some real progress there, although the limited amount of runs will allow only so much time to tune.
We are obviously very proud of the whole suspension, but especially the shocks. I wish I could take sole credit for developing these pieces, but in reality it was our military relationship with the guys at Fox Shocks that gave birth to these pieces. RideTech determined the dimensions, valving, and appearance parameters, but the internal architechure is Fox. They truly must be seen and felt to be appreciated. We have seven customers running at the Motorstate event this weekend...hopefully seven more RideTech shock desciples!
Glad you like it so far...now we'll make it fast!

Good to have options :)Please call Darren Schilling at Ride Tech.Darren is a wealth of suspension info.He has been super helpful.I am sure he can answer any question's you would have.I belive RideTech has a weld-on lower rear 4 link bracket. That will work w/this system.I will look up the part number and poat it up for you. Thanks Scott M.

hey guys i thought i would post a little update on my camaro. i took the car to a local car show last weekend with a few buddies and had a great time and the car got a good response from the crowd. Like i said before i haven't got a chance to really drive the car hard but from what i can tell on the street the shocks have really improved the ride quality and street manners, but yet the car still feels light and nimble. so far i am super happy with the ridetech components and alot of people have made comments thinking im nuts for changing the setup i had because it was pretty fast the way it was but i believe the car will be even faster after we get shock settings dialed in. Im anxious to get to des moines and feel it out after all the changes. This week im going to do a nut and bolt check on the car and it should be ready to head out on thursday. If anyone here is going to be at des moines gg stop by the autocross and say hi.

Well we made it through the weekend with no major problems at des moines good guys autocross. Trent and his crew put together an awesome course and i think it was probably the biggest and fastest gg autocross ive ever ran and i had a lot of fun...this course was actually big enough it wouldnt have hurt to have a little more power to pull the straights a little harder. We had to do a little tuning to get the car to turn in....with the new rear suspension we realized it had way to much front sway bar and not enough rear bar. So luckily kyle tucker was nice enough to help us swap out the front bar at lunch friday and it really helped the car transition and turn in. After the changes my times started to pick up and ended up good enough for third. I think im going to put an adjustable rear sway bar in the car and maybe go to an even lighter front bar and see what that does. But all in all it was a good weekend and had alot of fun with everyone and looking forward to getting to the next event.

Good to hear you had such good results right out of the box Kevin. I know you have not had a bunch of time to dial in the car since the suspension changes. That says alot about your skills behind the wheel. Nice work!

well i got to take my camaro to the heidts performance car challenge this weekend and had a blast and got to meet alot of nice people and see some killer cars. unfortunately our weekend was cut short when we spun a rod bearing on the road course on saturday. The track was a ton of fun and this was the first road course i have had the car on and it was feeling really good till the motor let go. thanks to my good friend albert for letting me wheel his firebird the rest of the day and still had a great time hanging out with everyone. Also had a blast with the karbon kustoms karting enduro where myself, mike from optima, and greg from ridetech finished a lap ahead of second place. lol it was a riot! All in all it was a great weekend and had a ton of fun despite killing a motor. hoping to have another motor in the car in the next couple weeks.

I havent decided for sure what im gonna do yet. Its probably either gonna be a stock LS2 or try to find an LS6. Wish i had the funds to put some real power in the car but dont quite have the budget for that right now. Big power is really all the car is lacking to run with the top guys on the road course...but for now im just gonna do what i can with what i have and get the thing back together and running.
thanks

You can't go wrong with an ls6 or ls2.

You really need to buy a good oil pan that is baffled better than the stock pans or you're going to kill the next engine on road the course.

LS6 is the better choice as far as oil control / drain back for track events. I'm using an autokraft pan on my car and it works great.

AutoKraft is the same as Canton. The new Mast one has good baffling although I don't know that it's superior to the Canton one. One to avoid is the new holley as it has zero baffling.

hey thanks tom i appreciate it bud. It was good to finally get a win in my car after being so close for so long. And yeah special thanks to scott for helping me get the new rear bar built late friday night to take the understeer out of the car. It made all the difference and was way easier to drive on saturday. Also congrats to kyle tucker on the vendor win....the sunday shootout between kyle and i was cool and turned out very close but unfortunately i fell short by .050...also want to thank james shipka for letting me wheel OLC. hey thanks, friday the car had a little understeer so we went with a bigger rear bar and it really helped the car transition and turn in. It was alot easier on saturday and sunday to get the car to do what i wanted it to and was able to pick up the pace enough to get the win.

hey guys, i recently made a few improvements to the camaro. It now has a new LS6 in it and floater ford 9 inch rear end. special thanks to Albert melchoir of carbon kustoms, mike at mike norris motorsports and superior chevrolet of kc. The car now has 1400 miles on it and im on my third LS motor. lol but i think this one should hold up for a while and make a little more power. thanks again to everyone that has helped me out.

well thats good to hear about the LS6. its all stock except for cam, springs, and injectors. The floater is built by schreiner enterprises. The only thing i didnt care for when it showed up is the welds were a little on the crude side so i cleaned it up a little. but other than that the hubs and snouts and everything else looked pretty nice.

hey thanks, i meant to take pics while it was on the bench before i put it in the car and forgot. next time its on the lift out at scotts shop ill try to get a couple good pics. Yeah i believe anybody that has met albert would say the exact same thing. hes a super nice guy and a pleasure to be around.

Maybe I missed it but, what sub frame is under the front? Is it one of Scott's? Thanks Eric

The subframe in the car is one of scotts first designs. It has stock camaro geometry but is 4 or 5 inches narrower than a stock chassis which allows me to run an 11" front wheel. It has a unisteer power rack and speedway engineering splined sway bar. The setup works pretty well but i have played with the idea of pulling the chassis out and running one of scotts C6 subs.

What spindle are you using? Did Scott make the control arms? I am running a stock sub frame with spc uppers & L&h spindle. I also have the Unisteer rack. I would like to get more front tire on my car possibly a 275. What size tire are you running? My car is a 67. Thanks Eric

the upper arms are ones scott built and the lowers are stock arms that i modified. It has a 2" narrower hub face than a stock camaro. i did this by narrowing the lower arms an inch which improved the camber gain. Im running stock spindles, I have a set of ridetech spindles but found they wont work with the two inch drop because the unisteer steering arms wont clear the wheel. They are designed to work with ridetechs true turn system. Right now im running BFG 285/30/18 on an 11" wheel with 5.75" backspace. I can run up to a 315 on the front with this chassis. My current chassis will probably be up for sale in the near future if i decide to go with one of scotts new C6 subframes.
