GM has approved the use of a very European-style V-8 that will be only slightly larger than 3 liters in displacement. The engine will be an overhead-cam, rather than traditional overhead-valve design, using a dry sump oil system that’s particularly well suited to high-performance road courses rather than straight-line acceleration. The engine is expected to feature a narrow 80.5 mm bore and a long stroke, more like a Ferrari or Lamborghini powertrain than the approach used for traditional Motor City metal.
man why not just put 2 turbos on an LS9 and kill everything from italy
GM's Halo vehicle getting a V6...
Does this put a dent in their CAFE numbers, or is this purely a PR move to make the greenies happy?

I read they will still be offering the traditional big cube V8's, and this motor will be optional. Also it is a V8, not a V6. Think Esprit/Ferrari GTO. Both had small displacement twin turbo 8's. This motor will be to appeal to crossover shoppers from Porsche/Ferrari. They 'say' this car will finally have a 'world-class' interior. I guess we'll wait and see. Also talk of a split window and some retro exterior cues.
This motor will have a 10K redline. Personally, I'd like to hear that scream!

Bingo, it doesn't matter what they do to a Corvette, Ferrari owners won't be ingterested. How many people really own exotics anyway.

News to me that the problem Ferrari owners have with Corvettes was displacement. I was under the impression their issue was with plastic and leafsprings.

Yahoo Auto News is Fairy Tale Reporting.
They have stated so many things about the Corvette and Camaro over the last few years and none even came close to being a dream.
When it comes from a more reliable source then I might consider it being a possibility.
