Guys, looking for a quick price check since I'm not on top of the Camaro market.
Went and looked at a '69 Camaro last night: Original small block / th350 car, not RS or SS, standard interior, manual drums all around. It's all there. Recently rebuilt 350/th350, factory A/C (non functional but present), power steering, 10-bolt one-legger out back, runs and drives. Interior is there and in decent shape. No floor pan rust, no top cowl/dash rust, window to trunk filler piece is OK, trunk floor is solid, there's a little bit of rust starting in the 1/4 behind the passenger's rear wheel.
Body is pretty straight, poked my head in the front fenders and header panel and popped the doorpanels and looked inside. 1/4's and trunk lid look good too, no sign of any large clumps of bondo or any previous hack-job repairs anywhere. Lifted the carpet (its shrunk) and the floors looked good.
What would be a fair market price for this thing? Thanks in advance.

Troy, I think Darrell (Bouncer) will have a good idea as he's been 100% immersed in that market for quite some time. I'm going to guess, based on some of the cars he's missed and/or turned down, that the car you looked at would be anywhere from $15k to $20k depending on how straight it is, panel fitment, and overall appearance and condition.

Troy,
The 15k - 20k range that Scott stated is exactly the going rate for a car in the condition that you have described i.e.(drums,th350 and the 350 engine). IMO if the car has a rock solid body just start at 10k and work from there to find a justifiable price. Hope it helps and good luck

The paint on the car is quite faded, but it certainly runs and drives and is a good starting point.
Looks like I may pick the car up... I won't even mention the price named last night as it would cause fits of uncontrollable jealousy. Let's just say Bouncer saying "start at 10K and go from there" would mean "go down" in this case... quite a bit down, actually, and that was the seller's stated starting point!
Then again, it may look completely different in the daylight. I went over last night about 6:30pm and checked the car over VERY well with my surefire (aka, super-duper-bright flashlight.) I knew where to look and absolutely nothing jumped out that screamed "run away!"
My plans would be to dump the slot mags for rallys or cheapie TTII's, clean up the engine compartment, get the A/C working, change the carpets and spin the thing... but a little voice in my head is telling me to keep it. :unibrow:
Sounds like you could flip it for some good cash. Deals like you're eluding to is all about being in the right place at the right time.

Exactly. I actually went with someone else who was lookng at the Camaro; he started to get soft on it and the gears in my head started spinning as he was backing out. To top things off, on the way home I received a call about a complete '66 Chevelle for $1000 and then when I got home my brother tells me the dad of one of his friends wants to sell his 66 'Stang 289/3-speed/Pony interior that's been stored for 20-something years, covered and on jackstands in his garage for $4K.
I may be dragging all 3 home this weekend. Neighbors are gonna love me.
Time to scrounge for some green stuff. LOL!
Man, lol, when it rains it pours. That usually how it happens though - when you want a car you can't find one, but they come out of the woodwork when you're not even looking.
I won't tell Darrell about your good fortune. :_paranoid
