View Full Version : Project Passionately Pink Camaro

Just as things are starting to bloom in Louisiana, local family is proposing the task of designing and constructing a breast cancer tribute car out of their 1972 Chevrolet Camaro for the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The project vehicle has been a family owned vehicle since the late 70′s and is the perfect way to bring attention to the cause. The Team has chosen the unique task of turning an iconic American muscle car into a more refined and environmentally conscious hot rod, but retains all the raw styling that this 70′s muscle car exudes. Our plans are to totally redo the suspension adding a fully adjustable performance Air Lift kit capable of high speeds and cornering like it’s hugging the highway. The Roadwire interior has multi tone fine black leather and saddle perforated alcantara surface along with the OEM slate and onyx black leather. The heated, comfortable seating will keep the passengers guessing that they are riding in a high end luxury sedan yet the 500hp LSx package will remind them ever so tastefully that this vehicle can truly “Race for a Cure”.

The exterior has been restyled by adding an extractor hood, mesh grille, shaved door handles and tinted windows. Finally the entire car will be hand sprayed in BASF’s Cyber Gray Metallic and accented with their Pearl Hot Pink. Finally it will be wet sanded and polished to a fine high luster using 3M refinishing products and tools.

Let’s talk horsepower! The folks at Victory Racing Engines have built their 408 cubic inch sportsman engine package topped with a Magnacharger supercharger for a little go to this show car . It will be coupled to a Finish Line 4l80e transmission, housing a Yank 3200 stall converter. Passionately Pink will be connecting those 500 ponies to the ground threw 20″ USW Forged “Crossover” wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes rubber.

The sound stage is set for a 8 speaker, 1000w system by Kicker. It is made up of their RS 6.5" components, 10" CVR sub woofers and two DX amplifiers. All the sound held captive by Design Engineering Boom Mat that has been laid throughout the entire vehicle

cool idea and cause. and the rendering looks pretty good i like how that wheels only have the pink as a accent color help to keep it from looking chezzy.
BUT and a big BUT i dont think all the hyped up word play is necessary for a lateral-g build thread....;)

I completely disagree.
The "wordplay" was very well written and certainly brought attention to both the detail and the cause  (too many words yet? )

Seriously, if you can pull it off, it'll be great. I've subscribed and will watch closely.
As a member here who has had several close family members and friends stricken by breast cancer, I thank you for your efforts:cheers:

I know this will start a crap storm, but what about painting the whole damned car a cool shade of pink, not the pepto bismol pink, but one of the bright, "hot pink" colors, to bring attention to the cause, and then do the accents in black:thumbsup: ??

can't wait to see how this one comes out.
Again,

Thanks:thumbsup:

I like the rendering as it is. I've seen plunty of pink cars with accents and they do nothing for me. This has perfect balance of color throughout the car.

"read closely" not necessary for a LATERAL-G BUILD THREAD...
its got nothing to do with the length of the post or the detailed description (if that was the case i'd have greg welds post on ignore!)

but to answer your question YES, from you that is...

I've already "read closely."
So what's "not necessary?"
Heck, most of the build threads start out with as much or more that this.
Maybe I misunderstood your meaning?
Please explain.

Car is off to media blasting, and the UPS guy is working overtime. Received a steering column from Ididit, seat covers from Roadwire, gas tank from Rick's Stainless, air conditioning from Classic Auto Air, and door panels from Marques Design. So happy to see all these parts, but man there is a lot of work in the near future.

We at Team Passionately Pink Camaro would like to thank Joe and the good folks at BMR Suspension. They have stepped up in a huge way by not only sending us their torque arm suspension kit (http://www.bmrsuspension.com/index.cfm?page=products&vehicleid=4&maincatid=29&catid=138&productid=537), a-arms (http://www.bmrsuspension.com/index.cfm?page=products&vehicleid=4&maincatid=29&catid=136) and sway bars but offering up a $500.00 donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation when and if we compete in the Optima Challenge.:

This is a great example of a large company giving back to the community:thumbsup: .

We are definitely pleased to be a part of this build and thankful for Team Passionately Pink Camaro choosing BMR as their suspension of choice. With so many builds taking place each year it can be difficult choosing which ones to support. This build has great direction and a worthy cause. We are anxiously watching the car take shape and look forward to seeing it at the 2011 Sema Show.

Putting the Human back in Humanity

With the current trend of “everyone for themselves” we have been fortunate enough to find many amazing companies that are will to put others first. We have partnered up with companies that aren’t worried about who else is on board the project and who might be a conflict of interest, but more about the greater good of the project. Without the large group of generous companies below the Passionately Pink Camaro built would not be a reality, and we would like to take a moment to thank all of you.

The car is like, really cheesy, the motivation is like, really awesome, I'm happy to see there's still people caring about the others, it's not about publicity, it's not about gettin to be known by the other people, nothing like that, it's about doing what you, they, we, and anyone else thinks is right, not for myself, but for the people that surrounds me. I've heard everyone is connected by at least ''6 degrees of separation'' a chain of maximum 6 people, then let's think about it this way, we're meant to help anyone close to us, we're making our part of the difference, helping at least 15% of the people in the world.

Anyway, it's looking really cool, BMR, the torque arm building is awesome. I'd love to see it done.

Check out their website. www.passionatelypinkcamaro.com, a company named "Monzter Motorsports" built the tail lights, and the circuit board tail lights are Digi-tails, this car is coming along well, cant wait to see what else is cooking, I know Monzter is doing alot of the one-off billet work for the Passionately Pink Camaro, like billet grille, and a billet belt drive, along with Ring Brothers hindges, Marquez strikers door vents, door panels, and rear deck panel. From SEMA we have a tour schedule with shows in Louisiana, Pennsylvania,Detroit and Chicago. We also plan on running in the Hot Rod Power Tour since it starts a mile from our shop. Also we have a breast cancer survivor piloting it in the Motorcity Gumball Rally in September. After all is said and done the vehicle will end of at Barrett Jackson with proceeds to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Woo-hoo! New parts. It's looking good. You should be receiving some 1-piece Hawk HP Plus pads for OUSCI shortly. Thanks again for the opportunity to participate in this project and provide the brakes for a great cause. I can't wait to see it at SEMA (booth #11749 in the North Hall).

Cant wait to see it at Sema!!

Many thanks as well to Monzter Motorsports for the engraving work on the calipers. They came through in a pinch to give provide some of the details that make the car extra-special.

WOW! The car looks great cant wait to see more pics.

On a side note, I am very shocked at how many people didnt comment on this build thread. The car wasunveiled yesterday, and posted here on Lateral G yesterday and one person commented. Kinda sad if you look at it. I guess its not as important as Bill Goldberg building a car, but Id personally like to send a shout out to everyone involved in this build. You guys went over and beyond to build a tribute car for our Mothers, daughters, and friends who battled the rigors of fighting breastcancer. Its people like Victory Racing Engines, National Parts Depot, Classic Industries, and all of the other Passionately Pink Camaro's 69 sponsors that are the true Pioneers of what this country was once made of, and what we lack as a whole today in the modern America.....Integrity..and Heart. Not the all mighty Buck!

Heres to all of these guys..........Thank you!

There are alot more ” views” than posts. I know I personally followed the build on three different sites. I only posted replies or comments on this site.
I guess my point is that many, many people watched the build. And I have to believe that anyone who is aware of it believes in the cause.
The builders, sponsors and anyone else involved has done a great job and for a great cause. The car turned out great.

The car was built with "newstalsia" in mind the seats are actually Corbeau seats that were shaped to look similar to the old style but with more bolster like a racing seat, but these seat recline and go up and down. Oh yea, and they have seat heaters and messagers front and rear!!

I need a little help here guys… I let Andy borrow my wheel simulator back in August of 2011 for his project.. I saw no harm in boxing it up & shipping it out to him so that they could do their wheels..
I have been calling Andy for the last couple of months asking him to send it back because I really need this tool back.. I have been super cool about the whole situation & very patient.. but enough is enough.. It was suppose to be shipped out about two weeks ago & he was suppose to get me a tracking #... Never called me back… Called him this week.. no answer & leaving messages..

I might have not sponsored any parts to the project.. but I let him borrow a very valuable tool to my shop.. It took a lot for me to do this post.. but don’t know what else to do..

I have been asked by various member here to see if they can borrow or rent this tool.. & all I can say is .. First I need to get it back..

Thanks Chris @ JCG for the use of this little gem. Made things a lot easier to measure up our Fikse wheels.

....HOW SAD THAT A MAN (used lightly) CAN'T KEEP HIS WORD.

Well stated Greg. I may want to borrow this tool one day and that may be compromised by the actions of another person. If a "MAN" doesn't have nothing else in life, it should be his word. We have a wonderful family here. I was once offered to be loaned some C6 spindles by SoCal Ron. I have never met him personally, but have had several personal phone conversations with him and talk to him about car advice often. Ron offered to loan me his brand new spindles for my project on one condition...that I return them and I gave him my WORD.

I don't really want to get into this either but I feel for you Cris! So here is to hoping this gets resolved, and you get your tool back.
I guess if you are to ever lend it out again a refundable deposit (for what the tool is worth; or maybe even a little more) is in order.

Sadly - it's a whole lot easier to "find" the DB's (like this borrower) that don't hold up their part of the bargain.

INMO -- this ONE SINGLE ACT (not returning the tool when asked) ruined this thread and what the car could have stood for. Because now, whenever I see this car, I see a bad actor rather than the good cause.
