I am trying to source a certain fastener.

Part# Size Material Finish Lock Thread

21MFA10M14 14 CARBON STEEL CADMIUM TYPE I N/A M14 X 2.0 SPS-N-93954

or

27MFK8M142 14 CARBON STEEL CADMIUM TYPE II N/A M14 X 2.0 SPS-N-94077

What I am told I need is M14x2.0 metric thin height, "Flex Loc" nut, cadmium plated carbon steel.

I only need 4 of these little fellers for a brake application.

Absolutely sick and tired of getting :willy:

I would like to have a source, and then be told minimum quantity for purchase or minimum order and go from there. If I need to buy extra so be it, just can't believe I cannot get my mitts on them.

I can also be reached at rjrierson at tds dot net or via PM, email through this 'site etc...

Thanks in advance for any ray of hope you can shed on this.

have you tried mcmaster?

Yes Bryce, thanks for the reply though.

They told me they didn't stock them past 12mm and weren't willing to special order.

I also tried thread-rite and they have a $100 minimum. If I was making a larger order I could do that, but right now I don't have a need.

I also talked to a regional or district rep from Fastenal, but I have yet to hear back from him and that was last Thursday.

Not a bad suggestion Sparks. I'll see what they recommend, I am tired of dead ends. They may have them, or have another suggestion for the application they'd supply as an alternative.

Thank you.

Try www.boltdepot.com for something like that. They seem to have everything I need when I need something. Fastenal might be a good choice to call too.

This is most likely a DIN 985 lock nut. This is a thin version of a DIN 982 which is a standard nylon insert lock nut. The height for an M14 is also 14mm. They are most likely going to be zinc plated. Cad is very difficult to get due to EPA regulations. Check this link. http://mdmetric.com/fastindx/ud18_25.pdf
Maryland Metrics is an excellent source for all things metric. Check page 3 of the pdf. I think this is what you need. Looks like about 40 bucks for 100. This is not a typical animal that you are going to be able to buy 4 of. I hope this helps.

I found another manufacturer,Lok-Mor (http://www.lok-mor.com/xx-loc.html)

They are currently doing a production run of what I need so they will help me out in a couple weeks if I still need them at that time. I'm still looking though.

I tried a Nissan dealer when I was in there on another matter, I desperately wanted that parts guy that can walk to a bin, pull out a drawer and say "You mean one of these right?". Instead I got the guy that can't look up diddly without a make, model, year or VIN.

I get annoyed with guys like that. If you smashed his computer with a bat he would think the warehouse behind him was suddenly empty shelves. How about get off your duff and look in a drawer where all the similar stock is?

Okay, rant subsiding.:wow:
