1968 True Pro-Touring Chevrolet Camaro.
This car was built over a period of five years. Using ONLY the best of everything. The car was built to be fast at the 1/8th mile track, fast at the 1/4mile track, fast on slalom courses, and any configuration of road racing. This car could easily be a committed full time race car with the addition of a roll cage. As it is now, it's a solid street car that will be competitive and yet can be used as a daily driver. Because of the LS6 motor we used a highway MPG could be achieved greater than 24 mpg. We built the car to handle 1500 HP, adding a full sub-frame by DSE as well as mini-tubs by DSE. The car is running about 550 HP now and we greatly overbuilt the car in case I ever wanted to add a bi-turbo, inter-cooled supercharger, or a healthy shot of NOS. After the car was tuned and we drove it, we obviously didn't need to add anymore horse-power for the street but I didn't want to be thrashing drive-shafts, transmissions, or rear-ends if the car ever was to be raced and more horse-power was added. The Ford 9" is virtually indestructible at the HP I'm currently running through the car. This car was professionally built by Kenny Davis of Kenny Davis Hot Rods (http://www.kdhotrods.com/). Kenny's one of the premiere builders of pro-touring cars in the US. The car is painted in an Alfa Romeo Blue, with a black leather (true leather not leatherette). We used snake-skin inserted leather inserts to mix up the interior a bit and although it is very simple yet unique, the entire car gives a presence of a stock car from a distance until you hear her start up or see her run.
I've got over $150,000 in just parts in building this car. If you've got the time, take a look at the parts listed below, look them up, and put a pencil to it and you'll be surprised at what I'm selling the car for. The ONLY reason I'm selling the car this cheap, is 1) the economy took a turn for the worse as the car was being built and 2) I'm trying to buy a house for my daughter and I and paying cash for a house would be IDEAL. I've decided to sell my car for the amount needed to add to what I have in savings and buy our house. The car got the name "Snake Bit" because it was originally started as a project by an "ex-buddy" who decided to just embezzle the money given to him for parts so the car obviously couldn't be built. That left me repurchasing the parts, undoing everything he'd done, and repainting the car because in the five years he lied about "completing he car" he'd left it scratched all to hell.
Once Kenny started work on the car the process went quickly, I had to repurchase all the parts I'd already paid Matt Cantrell of Allstate Transmission in Dallas for because he'd flat stolen the money for parts, but I was cool with that because we all know Karma catches up with all of us. The only thing I got out of over $6,000 cash for parts was a pair of headers that didn't fit. The only reason I mention this is to hopefully save the next guy the trouble of getting ripped off by Matt Cantrell. Four cars were pulled within two weeks when I came to pick up my car from his shop all for the same reason. People had paid for new parts, Matt put used parts in, and people had paid for thousands of parts that Matt never purchased. I'm pursuing criminal charges now and hopefully they'll have him locked up soon but a simple scan of him on PublicData.Com will keep you from ever taking a vehicle to him. The car took about 6 mos of dedicated labor, wiring, re-painting, and installing the drive train once Kenny got to work on it. What I ended up with was a 68 Camaro that was essentially a new car. This is quite literally one of the fastest cars I've been in both off the line and top end. It's got enough brakes to stop a train and with the coil over shocks on each corner, the suspension is infinitely adjustable. The car even in this economy has been appraised for and is insured for $78,500. I'm selling for way under that price. Don't be afraid to make an offer, all I can do is say no and I'm desperately wanting a house for my daughter and I. I've got full custody of my four year old angel and I want her to live in a house and not an apartment. I can always build another car.
The list of parts is long but to give you an idea of what's gone into this car please look at the parts below and you'll have an idea of what it costs to build a car of this caliber.
