I've been slowly ditching my stock suspension for some better pieces and wanted to see what you guys think. Car is a 1970 Chevelle with a BBC. I would like it to mainly handle better on the street, maybe a little auto x time nothing serious.

Rear:
UMI Boxed Lowers
Spohn Adjustable Uppers
Stock sway bar - looking at the hellwig adjustable bar
Stock rear springs.

Front:
Speedtech Uppers/Lowers
Stock height ball joints
Hotchkis sway bar
QA1 Coilovers

Right now the car sits at stock height because I still have 15" Ralley wheels, that would rub if I lowered the ride height. Once I save up for better wheels/ tires I would like to drop the car at least 1-1.5" all the way around.

Bad.samaritan – It looks like you’re doing it a little at a time. Thanks for making Hotchkis a part of your build. We offer a rear bar (http://www.hotchkis.net/6472_gm_abody_rear_sport_sway_bar.html) that will match your front bar.

Why would your wheels rub if you lowered the car? Most cars have enough room to go at least a couple of inches down before contacting a stock 15" wheel.

I just finished intalling the QA1/speedtech package so now the front sits about 1/4-1/2" lower. I don't remember what the spring rate is off of the top of my head for the coilovers, I'll have to dig through their catalog and see. Nothing rubs currently, but the ride height has to stay where it's at.

The problem is with the rally wheels that I am running. They don't have the correct BS to fit the wheel all the way inside the wheel well. My tires are 255/60/r15 front's and 275/60/r15 rears. If I were to change ride height say another 1/2" or so the outer edges of the wheels would rub during normal driving. On the rears I trimmed the excess fender lip back to the edge of the chrome trim which helped but if there is no air in air bags they will rub pretty bad especially with someone in the back seat. The wheels and tires are just what came with the car, not my choosing.

Sorry for the late response, I have been out of town for work lately. They are 550 lb coilover springs from QA1.
