I know that most of you just know me as a post whore... and probably many of you visualize me as a guy that just talks the talk but can't walk the walk. Of course - there's a few Lat G members that have been the direct recipients of some of my limited skills... but that is few compared to the many members here that know me. :D

So I started this just to show that sometimes - between posts - I have 24 hours a day - 7 days a week - 365 days a year - to do exactly whatever it is I feel like doing.... and I started a project on my brother in laws blown '69 Camaro. A new sub frame - complete wiring - some interior work - slick the firewall - new inner fender closeouts - and whatever else he comes up with for me to do. :unibrow:

All of this will be done in time to take the car to Santa Barbara Wheels and Waves show mid May.:woot:

The sub was fitted - modded - and is now at the powder coater. The inners where modded and are at the sand blaster so I can finish and paint. Was easier to just drop them with the sub and have 'em come back clean as a whistle.

Here's the firewall tacked in - which I started this AM -- cleaned the firewall (pays to have MANY different tools to do this QUICKLY!). Had to break for some caloric intake... so posting this while sipping soup. I started this morning and have still maintained a running email dialog with Ironworks... put a deposit on a new arbor for the front walkway - had the guy here to reinstall a 10" duct for my barbecue vented hood (relocated it in the roof when I had a new roof put on the house)... so cleaned the firewall to bare metal and got 'er tacked in. So nanner nanner. :woot:

The car - via the rearview mirror...

Funny part about it is --- I do more car ****zzzzzz a day or in a week than most do in 6 months... I just don't bother to post it up. In the last two months I've replaced a guys fuel tank and made his fuel lines - did some suspension work on a buddies '55 - been to Barrett Jackson - Grand National Roadster Show - RTTC 2 - Del Mar - tore this POS Camaro apart and did the set up for the sub and some mods... Helped a buddy with some EFI work -- and there's more that I can't even remember!

EEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Guess maybe I should just get back to debating whether or not I should click the shocks up two or down two....  :woot:

Cause his neck has a permanent kink in it, that only allows him to look up slightly. There is no need to look down.

Yeah -- I can't do body and paint either.... That's why I have to have my stuff built by someone else. But I did manage to slick this firewall.

Just razzing you, never thought you couldn't do any of it.

Hey! We're friends -- I know you're razzing me.

Razzing me doesn't bother me at all... I'm the first one to drop a grenade in the middle of someone else's thread... it's the know it alls that have built maybe one car in their lifetime I get tired of.

I do all the cooking 'round here... Gwen can't burn water.

You'd have to switch to wine... I have lots and lots of that. Very little beer! :D

Besides -- I promised Tyler that I'd adopt him first... but he has to agree to dye his hair brown - or black - or blonde - or red... ANYTHING but blue!

Bob asked about pics of the TIG of the DSE panel... 'cause anybody can tack weld (true). I took one to send via text to my BIL (his car).... So just to show that yeah I can TIG -- doesn't make me a "welder" -- and I actually do this very seldom so a guy that does something every once in awhile - is never going to lay down the perfect little stacks of dimes that a guy that does this daily can do... but mine will 'hold'... The curve is easier to do in the "UP" position so the torch is being held upside-down and I'm adding fil from the top.

Thank you... but really -- this is just barely getting by in my book. It's just hard to do "occasionally". You have to have such a steady hand and such a steady feed of the fill to really make 'em smokin'. I don't have either of those skills. And like I said earlier -- I rarely post up what I'm doing. It's just not interesting. But it's fun for me! :woot: Beats working for a living that's for sure! :unibrow:

Fresh,

Good to see you were able to honor an offer... or was it offer your honor? Either way - hope the sale of that dynamite Camaro with the 24's is going well for you.

Love to see you at the beach dude!

http://www.wheelsandwaves.com/

I'm staying at the Ramada...they have trailer parking in the lot they own across the street. We'll be there with my '32, along with my buddy and his "great 8" '32, and my brother in law/sister should have the '69 there if I can manage to get it completed enough by then (keep your fingers crossed). Rodger is thinking about joining the parade of dirt bags as well.... so with you two - I'd have plenty of "protection". One in front and one in back... nobody would mess with "the short guy"!

I use my tig 1 to 2 times a year and every time I need some practice before I start.

But I really suck at it:lol:

Yep! It's real hard to be a "sumtimer" and be as capable as someone doing it day in and day out. I've been welding since I was 16.... which is some 42 years... but just because I can stick two pieces of metal together - doesn't make me a 'welder'. No different than having a big horsey power car makes someone a driver. Or a new golf club makes you a golfer. Doesn't make it any less fun though!
