I had a k&n xstream filter/lid. took it off in favor of a spun aluminum lid. But now am going back to a filter lid for better hood clearance. Question is: would the spectre lid be comparable to the k&n. I can buy a whole spectre lid and filter lid kit for less than the k&n lid alone.

I always thought of Spectre as the "fake steel braid cover" company. I would see all the dress up crap in the isle at Schucks/O'Reilly and laugh at the guys buying it.
They have completely changed my attitude towards their products lately. I saw some trick cold air kits on some local cars and bought one for my DD Silverado. Nice, high quality piece, great price. Go to their website and check out some vids. I would give their stuff a look.

Ive always used K&N products on my Muscle Cars do to proven performance gains and seems like there the Grandfathers of the perf. filter world & there filters are Patent pend. they have to cause others know K&N design works !
As for Spectra products they came a long way since they started and they are a big supporter !
