View Full Version : Shop Owners please chime in...

So about two weeks ago my father asked a local street rod shop in our area to give a rough estimate on how much they would charge to install A/C and convert his his leaf spring rear end over to a coilover setup with triangulated four bars and a panhard bar on his street rod. We have have used this shop multiple times in the past and I feel that we are very loyal customers to them and we always get excellent service from them. We are not their biggest customer by any stretch of the imagination. But it has been two weeks and no word back on an estimate. I know their busy, but my father is starting to get anxious on this. He says he wants to be nice and cool this summer when he is driving around in this thing.

What do you guys think an expectable amount of time to go by?

Wow thats a tough one, especially when you can see both sides of the fence. I do all our project estimates in our shop, and sometimes (because of our small size) I get pulled in a ton of directions and find myself focusing on current projects and forgetting that upcoming or potential customers are just as important.

That being said, I guess it depends on how backed up they are? If they were expecting to get your car in the shop in the next month, they should have been all over that estimate. If its a waiting game, I can understand how it gets pushed back in the owners brain.......

Try giving him a friendly call and remind him of your job. I am sure he wants your business, and probably isnt doing it on purpose. But stay positive.

Ask them again to remind them, shouldn't be a big deal. If they blow you off again then they don't want to do it lol.. When somebody comes to our shop and asks we usually give them some kind of an estimate the same day, I can't imagine why it would take two weeks for a rough estimate, they had to of forgotten...

Sounds like it just didn't make to To-Do list. If they are local, I'd swing by for a friendly chat and drop a reminder that you're still waiting.

Of course I like excuses to swing by and just see what's going on. A phone call should do it too.

Yea best to give them a ring. Fyi I was quoted approximately 40hrs on my install

I too am very guilty of this on more than one occasion!
