The National Street Tire Challenge is a special Sports Car Club of America sanctioned autocross event open only to cars running street tires. The purpose is to provide a unique event where competition for top index honors is open exclusively to those running street tires, and to show support to those people who arrive and drive on their street tires. There are currently 4 confirmed dates and locations for events this year.

Dallas on June 4
DC on July 16
Atlanta on August 6
Milwaukee, 2 day final, the weekend of September 17th.

There will be a Muscle Car class and thousands of $$ in prizes from Bridgestone, Optima, and SPS.

Went to this in Milwaukee back in '09 and it was a really fun event. Missed it last year as it conflicted with the MotorState Challenge. Unfortunately the Milwaukee event is up against GoodGuys Indy this year so looks like I will be missing this again. Too many good things to do this year!
If you're not planning on going to Indy for GoodGuys this would be worth checking out. The Milwaukee SCCA always puts on great autocrosses.

Just a quick note on the Texas round of the NSTC. The event will be held at Mineral Wells Airport, and will feature a course which will be in the 80+ second range. It will be more like a road course than an autocross!

What is a "street tire"???

Before all the rules I drove on RA1 Toyos.. on the street, in the rain.

Is is 200 treadwear? 180?

I believe the SCCA designation for a "street tire" is anything with a tread wear rating of 140 or higher.

Just wanted to drop a reminder that the Texas NSTC is coming up fast on June 4 in Mineral Wells Texas. I realize the Super Chevy Show folks have an event in Ennis the same weekend, but I encourage you all to come out. We offer:

- $250 Bridgestone certificate to the winner of the Muscle Class.
- Optima Battery certificate to a trophy winner.
- SPS/Solotime certificate winner to a trophy winner.
- $100 and $50 Bridgestone certificates to other trophy winners.

We will have a 90 second autocross course, more like a road race course than a typical course. Lots of fun, lots of prizes. Look forward to seeing you all there!
