Unless it was an aluminum block version the weight would be detrimental to any handling but would definitely be a powerhouse and unique to boot.

I have seen Viper engines in a lot of mopars but never in a chevy. My brother inlaw and I were going to put one in a 79 corvette but the weight and cost would be to high to do.

But all in all it would be cool to see.

Weight too high? Uhh, they weight less than the small block that was in there from the factory

But it would be expensive, and a nightmare to package, plus it's sacriledge to put a mopar engine in a chevy. :willy:

Save the $$ and drop a monster SB2.2 in it. (isn't that a statement, save $$ and SB2.2)

Leave the Mopar engine swaps to the Mopar guys. How about an all aluminum big block??

Also even in aluminum form in which it would be lighter the length would not be ideal as it would inevitably end up with alot of weight in front of the tires.

Okay , Okay , go easy on me ... like i said i was wondering , i really wanted to do a ls-1 conversion , but for the money that i was looking at spending i was just a little hesitant to do so , i just could not find the "right deal" on a package , i am not a mopar fan at all , but i kind of placed the vipers in more of an exotic line of cars , not to mention their powerplants are very nice looking ... i have already purchased a 454 that has a nice cam in it , bored , .030 over and ported heads , i will probaly just stick with it ... thank you for the input and i will try to redeem myself in the future ,

I guess its not a good time to mention that i also own a 600 horsepower toyota street car ... that i actually really like .........

no...toyotas are cool, as long as they arent too "ricy"

there is even an early nova kickin around here with a jdm toyota I6 in it, engine swaps are fine, but at some point in my opinion it just becomes "wrong" such as a viper v10 in an f body, or a sbc in a viper

i will say that i completely agree on all points , dont get me wrong , i do explore different ideas , i love cars ... of all kinds , mostly the ones that go nice and fast , i do like subtle but powerful style and performance , i am pleased with all the information that i am learning on this site and am happy with any and all input , i came to this board/forum with little knowledge about American muscle and am learning something new everyday , My Supra is one of about 350 of its kind in America and i would never think of dropping a chevy or nissan engine into it ... but again this is a learning curve for me and with this place and the good input from the community i will narrow my chances of doing things in reverse , being said , thanks again for all the input!!!!!! I say do it!

Theres always people that will call ANY type of modefied sacrelidge so if you found a deal on a v10 more power to you, as others have stated this a veery long engine so a few minutes with a tape measurer might you rethink it, but you never know.

Its always cool have something you KNOW is different

I agree do it!
You can't go to a car show without seeing a Mopar or Ford with a SBC. Try to even it up some. Do something different.

I have seen Nissan rb26's in a Supra and its a pretty cool swap. I even saw on this message board an rx7 with an LS1 now that was awesome. Supras are cool but they never really do much for 1/4 times they are more about high horse power and top speed. Dont get me wrong I have seen the Titan Supra run 9s but with over 1200hp.

your are right , they are not real good drag cars like some others , they are big horsepower makers and a blast to drive , they are very reliable comfortable , the whole nine yards , i think that i can truly say that i will never part with this car .... oh and i really like the rx-7s as well , but the rotary motor is the weekest link ... i think that dropping the ls-1 in them is just in this situation......

So many decisions .... where does it end ???????? oh wait i am getting married in less than three months , i guess then it may come to a screeching halt....!!!!!

Dookie,
We just finished a Viper engine install into a 68 SuperBee. Bottom line is the V-10 is a little over 36" long. You will need to move the firewall to fit the the engine. The good news is the Viper engine pulls like crazy, they are torque monsters.

if its a good deal, and you have the funds, pick it up and re-sell it. tons of guys here or on viperforums would take it. not to mention since the prices are coming down, a lot of supra owners are switching to vipers, growing trend over on supraforums.

i havent been on the board for a couple of weeks , and i just looked this post up to see if i had gotten anymore flaming , its funny that you mention the guys on supraforums switching to vipers , i have started looking at some of the gts vipers lately and have pondered the possibility of selling the supra for one , they have grown on me like crazy to the point where i have had some serious talks with some dealers .... prolly wont materialize but its fun dreaming .....
