Goodguys 2011 AutoCross events announced!

Goodguys has announced 15 events with an AutoCross and some events will have three days of AutoCross.
Goodguys is also holding a Sponsor AutoCross Shootout at Columbus OH on Sunday July 10th. This will be reserved for around 12 of the fastest, hardest driven vehicles that each AutoCross sponsor wants to show their stuff on at the track. Winner will have bragging rights all year as the Goodguys AutoCross Sponsor winner.

Goodguys will also be posting the results right here after every event which will include the classes, name and fast time.

How are you guys going to run the three day events? Will the winners not be announced until Sunday or will Sunday just be "fun runs"?
The weather really stinks here. Can't wait to get out to some of your events again. Especially looking forward to the new event in Indy.

Goodguys will run the competition on Sunday until 11:00am at the selected events that have Sunday as a day of Competition.

Our goal is to give the participants more chances to make runs and win the prizes.

Everyone needs to come out and have fun as the AutoCross is FREE to all Participants that are showing at the event.

Goodguys will post the fast times for all participants right here on Lateral-G as well as our web sites. :lateral:

PHR To Sponsor Street Machine AutoCross in Ft. Worth, Nashville, Columbus, Indianapolis, and Del Mar, California.


In the spirit of getting out and beating your stuff on the hot asphalt, Popular Hot Rodding has joined with the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association to sponsor five of the Street Machine AutoCross events in 2011. PHR will be giving the winner of each of the five events a customized PHR Street Machine winner’s jacket emblazoned with his or her name. The Street Machine class is open to any ’55 and newer muscle car with tires having a 180 or higher treadwear rating. All autocross participants must be Goodguys event participants and your Goodguys registration number will be the autocross entry number. PHR will also profile the winning car and driver in the event coverage for that event, so don’t delay and head over to www.Good-Guys.com to register for the 2011 event season! Just to be clear, Goodguys will be holding their AutoCross events at ten additional Goodguys events besides the ones listed here, so log on today and check their schedule to see what’s near you!

Well the first event is in 8 days and yes it will be the first event with an AutoCross on the 2011 season. Let us know who is coming and what your bringing to run the track.

Goodguys has a few new sponsors of the AutoCross and we will have gift certificates for the winners of all three classes from those sponsors.

Popular Hot Rodding is also going to cover selected events in their magazine as well as the coverage that Goodguys does in the monthly Goodguys Gazette.

Tire treadwear rule is 180 minimum. Like most of the tracks it will be a peanut shaped two lap track.

We will also post the fast times for the event right here on Lateral-G after the event so check out who was fast and who won the prizes.

Goodguys also has a new logo for the AutoCross for 2011 so look for this at the track.

How do we register for the Street machine of the Year in Columbus. Is it an open registration or do you need to qualify at a different event?

You do not need to register before the event but you can send in a picture of the car and we will put it on the web site to show some of the cars that are coming.

Once you go to registration just pick up the flier on what you need to do to make sure you do all the elements to qualify for the SMOTY award.

You will have to be in the Builders Choice area on Friday by 10:00 am and get teched for the AutoCross that will run at noon. After the AutoCross all the cars will be brought into the building and the judges will be with the cars with no one around for a few hours. You can wait and take your car back to the hotel or you can leave it in the building until Saturday morning at which time you have to go back to the Builder Choice area for that day.

The five finalist will then be brought to the building for the awards Saturday evening.
