Finch won the whole deal.:thumbsup: Everybody has stepped up their game substantially over the past year. Cars and drivers. I ended up 6th on the road course but not sure quite yet where I placed over all. I'll be updating my thread with photos and bull puckey as soon as I get some sleep. I'm still toast...

It was great seeing all of you.. sorry I was so busy driving, fixing and working that I didn't get to chat much...

Also glad the weather held!

I will be getting all the data for the story soon and will see if I can get some up here.

In short..

DSE won the road course.. DSE came in third I think on the autocross (Mary Pozzi second).. DSE had the best start/stop time.. I think I might have been second and Ryan fourth

I do know the top speed challenge (in the brake deal) was

Kyle DSE at 97 mph
Rupp at 96 mph
Magnaflow Truck
Ryan from DSE (94 I think)

Sucks loosing by 1mph.. lol

I just went to PT and did a little digging...looks like Blake's Nova did very well! I personally am happy to see that! Bill said in the thread over there that he will be posting a final results spread sheet in a day or two.

The Speedtech Nova was cookin man. Great car and Jay can frickin drive. Hung out with him and Blake several times. Great dudes.

Hopefully we will see some results by tonight.

Just one note here for now. A lot of us here know and pick on Greg Weld here at LG. I want to make a public Thank You to Greg for the relentless work he and his crew did for the RTTCII event. He drove down on his dime, donated to the event, and then spent two full days running the autocross scoring. I think he got about 5 laps around the autocross for his trouble. By mistake, he was even charged for lunch one day????? Refund coming Greg! It is guys like Greg and Chuck Felton that make it possible for us to do these events, hands down could not do it without them. When you are thanking people for events, remember it is the Greg Welds of the world that make it really happen..... Thanks Greg!:bow:

I know one thing for sure....Greg LOVES these events and has a great time 'working' them! :yes:

It's been fun to see this PT/G-machine hobby go from concept, to many projects (some still are! :_paranoid ), to now having driving events year round to actually USE the cars for what they were built to do! Without guys like Bill making it happen...well it basically just wouldn't! Thanks Bill and all you other guys that make events like this truely happen and go on without a hitch! Every year there are more dates to put on the calender...how cool is that! :thumbsup: :lateral:

Yep, Jay can sure drive! I believe he finished 5th overall @ Optima. The Nova was a new car then and he had never driven that track before...that really says alot about his skills and the car!! :yes:

Greg and Bill you really did a great job and cannot be thanked enough! This was blast and like Greg said if you have not been to one of these events you need to at least come out and check it out, you will not be disappointed!

A special thanks need to go out to Greg for letting my 22 year old brother room with him. After Greg saw 3 of us squeezing into one room he let Craig be his room mate!

I have to say that i event was like a well oiled machine! I could not believe how much time we got on the track, especially sunday! To be able to do all the events twice in one day was amazing! to have that many people together and everything go as smooth as it did is no small feat, my hemet is off to everyone who helped put this event on!

on a side note i am STOKED on how well our "Bad Idea" 55 chevy did! To come out and run with the big boys (and girl) on its first real outing was great!

No question Greg is one of a kind and we need more of them in this world.
Being in Oregon and seeing gray skies for a couple months now. I was happy as a pig in SH!T. The sun was out both days( a bit cold) but I got a nice sunburn and got my fill of vitamin D.

Greg even let me drive the Barak Obama mercedes around the autocross a couple times. Not many guys would let anyone do that. Brian Finch ran a few laps with the mercedes and put down some impressive times.

This was the second RTTC I have been to and volunteered at. These events are a blast and recommend if you have a car get out there and use it. I can't wait for my car to get finished, so I can come to this event and participate.

Sounds like there's a bit of a discrepency. There was a post this evening to 'the other website' that's a big apology from the event organizers to Ryan Matthews and DSE for not announcing and awarding him the title for the road course in the vendor class with his 1:02 time.

Bill, Yancy and myself would like to extend an apology to Ryan Matthews and DSE for not announcing that Ryan was our fastest road course driver. He knocked down a fast 1.02 lap. He ran in the Vendor class and was overlooked when Bill was making his announcements during the awards ceremony. As we continue to do these events, we strive to improve on not making mistakes..that is why there are three of us runing this event, to keep everything in check and we still screwed up. I personally am so sorry as that Ryan ran his butt off in the 69 to be the best and was overlooked. DSE ,one of our major sponsor, brought their rig cross country just for this event and turned back around..can you imagine the fuel cost..and we left them out. We realized this after all was said and done and it was too late. Guys please accept our apology and thank you for your participation....It is always a pleasure to see vendors bringing parts they sell and showing us what our cars could be like and how much abuse they can stand...Kyle, Stacy and their crew prove that week after week and without their support ..you guys would not have got to do what you did this weekend.

I do think it's safe to say that the cars entered by the manufacturers have an advantage of engineering and testing. Eventually I can see this evolving into two distinct classes. Then you have the cars driven by folks that aren't owners. Cars that are lighter, more powerful, etc. I'm just happy to have the events to compete in on a regular basis. I look at the DSE, Speedtech, Pozzi's, Finch, as the king of the hill. I'm working to close the gap as a driver and finding that car balance. It's fun to have something to work towards.

Here's the deal, Ryan in the DSE '69 ran the fastest lap time on the road course, but was in the Vendor Class. Jay in the Speedtech Nova ran the fastest lap time in the Registered Competitors Class....therefore won the road course part of the event.

Hey, in the end we got to see a bunch of badass car being beat on and guys trying to get better at driving them. I missed out on seeing so many cars, but I did get to see Bad Penny and some of the vendor cars absolutely smoking the road course which was just rediculous. To clear the air guys and you are certainly hearing this from the horse's mouth, or maybe the jackass's mouth.
We should have had all vendors in a class by themselves, not just the sponsors.
Speedtech, TCI certainly should have been vendors since they sell suspension parts, period.
I take the blame for that and it won't happen again. It is tough trying to put different people in different classes. In Speedtech's case, Blake was the registered participant and Jay drove so the scoring shows Blake not Jay. It is a slippery slope when you start breaking down all the variables and that is why I HATE even keeping score. I do not want these event becoming so competitive that we lose sight of what they are intended to be about. At RTTHs I have always put EVERYONE in the same class. Run what you brung and hope you brung enough! I may go back to that at all future events, makes my life much easier for sure.

To clear the air, if you haven't already looked at the results on DSEs sight, Ryan was the fastest, Jay(listed as Blake) was second and Kyle came in third on the roadcourse. And just so everyone knows, Kyle would have won the OUSCI invitation had everyone been in the same class, he certainly had the field covered.

i had fun meeting a lot of you guys and i hope to have my ride done next year. theres not many places you go where everyone is so cool to each other.

i can tell you first hand that gregs job was very difficult. with two cars on the track at a time it took some team work and concentration to keep it all straight. couple that with the friggin wind and other distractions and it still amazes me that it all went smoothly.

I'm sure Bill or someone will post exactly how the events were scored and totaled for the overall results, but Brian did not get the points for the Friday cruise so that could've been a factor.

At least that's my understanding.. that Vette is crazy fast, no wonder it wins so much in SCCA.

My understanding was it is based on the OUSCI point structure. Using that spreadsheet gives me more points than Finch so I'm assuming Bill had his own values?

Yea, that sucked.. and sorry that screwed you on points. But you're a racer, you know to ALWAYS read the rules.. lol

Anyways, your car was f'ing impressive and you can know that it was one of the baddest at the event.

Guys, I am making a quick pass thru the house so don't have time to post much. The rules this year were the same as last year, different point system than OUSCI. You can find the rules at PT or maybe even here from last year.

Brian would have still been one point short, by my calculations had he made the cruise so that is really a non issue. :thumbsup:

Trust me, there were so many numbers to crunch in a short period of time and everyone is standing over your shoulders while you are doing it. Now, with time to sort everything without pressure, there may be differences, I hope not but that is always possible.
Also, when you shift people to vendor, media, professional driver, and the list goes on, you can come up with several different ways the results shake out. This is hard to do guys and keep it fair. I have quit trying to make everyone happy, just trying to keep it fair.

First off, I want to Thank everyone who participated at the event and hope every one had a Great time!! I want to personally Thank all the Vendors who supported the event along with the volunteers especially Greg and Chuck. Every year we learn more from our past events to further a better outcome for the near future. Next year, all participants will be in the same class regardless if you are a vendor, media or participant!! Furthermore, as stated per this years rules, If you registered the car, You Must Be The Driver!! Again, it's about having FUN with our friends and drinking a little apple pie, right Doug!!!

I share your view point that the event is the people and the laughs.... Racing is handled by SCCA who do a great job of just that.... We're just a group of enthusiasts that love to laugh :thumbsup: , drive in a spirited fashion :cool: ,,,,, May we never loss focus of that I hope....



To clear the air guys and you are certainly hearing this from the horse's mouth, or maybe the jackass's mouth.
We should have had all vendors in a class by themselves, not just the sponsors.
Speedtech, TCI certainly should have been vendors since they sell suspension parts, period.
I take the blame for that and it won't happen again. It is tough trying to put different people in different classes. In Speedtech's case, Blake was the registered participant and Jay drove so the scoring shows Blake not Jay. It is a slippery slope when you start breaking down all the variables and that is why I HATE even keeping score. I do not want these event becoming so competitive that we lose sight of what they are intended to be about. At RTTHs I have always put EVERYONE in the same class. Run what you brung and hope you brung enough! I may go back to that at all future events, makes my life much easier for sure.

Too funny.... You're new nickname is "coney". And yeah -- my head is still writing times down!

Watching me drive anything is not much fun.... watching Brian Finch wheel that tub around was a hoot though! That man can DRIVE! For him to jump in that big ol' boat -- street tire pressures and all... me in the passenger seat and he goes around twice and lays down a 40.4 ! Get out! Another time or two and he'd have laid down a 39 sec run. There's a trick to keeping the twin turbos on spool... 'cause it's a dog without 'em.

Bill Howell and I gave it a couple of runs - but I think we spent more time laughing than driving... Both Bob Braga and Rodger Lee went way faster than Bill or I.
