(mods please move if in wrong forum)
I just have to share this, it is certainly unsolicited and will probably not get a reply from the company it is directed at, but I feel it just has to be said.
Sometimes people blow their own horns, you always have the want-a-bees come and go. Then you have those that are always going to to help out, but never step up.
As a somewhat part time promoter of events and one of those always looking for sponsorship dollars to help do one more event somewhere, I have learned the "Real Deal" is few and far between. There are the regulars, as I call them, that are always there, stepping up, writing the checks, and paying the freight so all of us can go to events and do what we built our cars to do. These guys always not only pay as sponsors, but give products for door prizes, and the list goes on and on. Then when the event gets here, they are never in the spotlight, just there to have fun like the rest of us. Ridetech, Bowler, BFG, Vintage Air, Baer, Wilwood, Forgeline, Carbon Kustoms,Prodigy, Spectre and others come to mind, some have been very supportive since day one of the original RTTHs.
2011 rolls around and here it is a week before the second annual RTTC. I get a call from Kyle Tucker with DSE last night and here is the jest of the conversation. Hey Bill, Kyle. Truck is packed, is there anything else you need, oh and btw, we have an extra spot on the truck if anyone needs their car hauled out.
So we get to talking about the event, the hobby and business in general and how 2011 is looking better than 2010. Then I get a shocker. I tell him we are looking forward to seeing him at RTTC and I am guessing he is just leaving the Truck and Trailer out west cause the GoodGuys shows are in about a month, etc.
NO, they are driving ALL the way across the country, in a 18 wheeler, bringing 2 cars, Setting up their rig as a support vehicle for everyone, Sponsoring the Road Course segment of the event, then, simply driving back home. All this just to support RTTC and their customers.
Guys, this company (and others) are the real deal, period, end of discussion. They would never blow their own horn about this, and may get upset with me for doing it, but that is ok, I will deal with the fallout! I hope that everyone attending RTTCII will find the time to personally thank Kyle and crew for their commitment and support. I also hope that the next time you read a thread somewhere about how XYZ has control arms $2 cheaper or windshield wiper motors "just like" DSE, you will remember this thread and link it or send the OP a pm with the link.
It is only because of companies like this that we can continue to have events and new technology for our vehicles and I hope everyone will support them next time you buy parts.
I absolutely abhor knockoff products from copycat companies whether it be DSE, Ridetech, Hydrotech or any other of our long time sponsors that suffer and I hope you will never fall for the price game and not consider the whole picture.
Like I said, sometimes this just doesn't get said, so I thought I would do it on my own.
