Heres the story, Ive come across a fantastic deal on a Z06 t56, what Im wondering is, can you make these front mounted? By that I mean run a normal bellhousing/scatter shield, clutch/flywheel? Also would I be able to run an f-body tail stock without problem?

Or am I chasing the improbable?

Thanks guys.

I guess another point of concern is the shifter...

Boy, lots of variables.

From what I have heard on this is you will have to gut the trans and swap the input shaft and output shaft. Buy the time you are do converting that one you will have paid for 2 or 3 brand New T56s for F-bodys or GTOs.

It's possible to convert it, but as mentioned, it's not exactly an inexpensive venture. Depending how cheap you could get the Z06 trans for, it might or might not be financially advisable. The benefit would be that you would have the double/triple syncro design which is usually preferred over the Fbody's single/double design.

Basically you would need to change the front plate, mainshaft, tailhousing and main shift rail. The input shaft would be usable. If it's a Z06 T56 from a C5, it would have the same gearing as the GTO's with a 2.97 first gear and wider gear spread between 1-4.
