Can you give us a quick run down on the pros/cons of the subframe. What else is required. Rack and pinion? Spindles?
Thanks

Hmm I don't think I've seen your subframe before. So yours comes with steering arms and the sway bar and ends?
I have a C5 front suspension so I have control arms and knuckles and hubs. What steering rack is yours designed for?

The pro's #1 it works,#2You use up to a 11 wide wheel,315 tire on 69 &70 camaros.#3 Lower cost,#4 my chassis come w/motor mounts, trans mount, and bolt on steering arms.Cons #1 it's not a DSE orAME. #2 Fabricated rails instead of bent or hydroforumed. You will need the following upper & lower C-5/C-6 a-arms,C-5/6 uprights & bearing hubs.A 79-93 fox bodied rack & pinion,15 inch long coil over's 550# spring SBC,LSX.650#springs BBC.I can send it complete and powder coated also but just adds to total cost and shipping is higher when it is a complete unit.I just shipped unit #19 to Cris G. at JCG Restorations on tues.I have owned my Welding and Machine Shop business since 1984.Built my first Corvette sub frame in 2004 using C-4 componets. When those componets got hard to find started using C-5 componets.I am in the process of finishing my 6th. complete PT. build right now. Thank's For looking.Scott

Just did a quick search and it looks like Mustang steering racks are pretty cheap so that's a definite plus. I don't know anything about fox body Mustangs though, do you have a recommendation for what year/trim level has a quick ratio?
Thanks
coolwelder62
02-11-2011, 06:12 PM
An ARG brand for 79-93 fox bodied mustang 15:1 or20:1 ratio's can be ordered from Jeg's for $249.99 includes tie rods. or a rebuilt unit are also avilable for around $130.00 plus core charges from local parts stores.I can supply brand in the box GM C-6 componets for $1,650.00.I cant buy the rack and pinion or coil overs any cheaper than my customers right now.Just trying to pass the savings. Thanks Scott

Hey Scott, thanks for the great offer but I've got to finish my GTO before starting my Firebird. I just gave away a complete 389 engine and trans a few weeks ago but I've got another 400 and turbo 350 here that you could borrow if you decide to go ahead. Not sure how far the drive is from here to your place. Pontiac engines are usually easy to find on Craigslist.

Scott any idea what headers will work with LSX motors in your frame?
I been using the coated headers from Art Morrison.Speedway motors just come out w/a set of coated LS headers ($400.00) going to order some of those and work on the fitment.I am going to get back to work on my 63/67 nova chassis here in a few weeks.I have already built one but I need to narrow up the track width.59 inches is too wide for the shoebox nova's.Will be trying to get the track width down around 54 inches.

How did you come up with design ie camber gain and all the other characteristics associated with a front suspension? This will allow 11" wide wheels on the front of a 2nd gen? Are there any body mods needed to fit the 11's? I'm not anywhere near ready to buy unfortunately. I just like having choices. Are you planning to have these for sale as part of your normal business?
I love your camaro Scott. Honestly thought about buying it when you had it for sale.

I've gotta jump on the bandwagon too. I picked up a sub from Scott yesterday. I took some time today doing some preassembly and verifying measurements. Everything is on the spot with what I had expected. You can tell he takes pride in his work.
It's also nice that he's been running this himself and has good insight to getting it to perform right out of the box. I can't wait to throw this thing under the car.

My sub frame is very close to the design Wayne Due used.I have been looking for some one to bend the 2x4 rec. tube for me but can't get them to call me back.So I may be looking to go another direction w/ my materials choice. And will start working on a new light wt.# design here in a few week's.It is very hard to find a company that can bend 2x4 each direction. And then getting them to give you a quote is even harder. So for now I will cut and weld the tubing the same way the Nascar team's build their Winston cup chassis.Thank's to all 25 customer's over the last 5 year's who have trusted me to build their componet's. Scott M.

Using my fabricated sub frame on a 67-68 camaro you run a 18x10 frt wheel. The 67-68 camaro's are alittle narrower than the 69's .I have had an 18x11 on a 69 camaro w/no issues. And now my 72 camaro has 18x11's and they fit great.LS motors and T56's also work in them.I am working on finding a set of well built header's that will work w/the sub frame also.

HEY GUYS WATCH OUT FOR CHEAP COPY'S out there.
Yeah, I saw the add in the for sale section where some other guy was claiming a subframe to be yours. This is sad. There's nothing wrong with "cheap." I'm pretty sure there are lots of guys who don't mind buying cheap and cannot afford the better parts. The problem is when another person pawns the cheap parts off on others and tarnishes a good guys name and reputation....yours in particular. Anyway, I want to commend you on such a good looking part and a very nice and attractive price to go with it might I add. I don't have a Camaro, but if I ever get one, your subframe will be the one I buy. Keep up the good work and providing quality subframes and I hope you sell plenty of them. Much success!!

Hey,guys if you are thinking about buying a subframe please me call me first. I can tell you if what you will be getting is from a real customer or just some one making cheap copys. There was only one of my sub frames for sale. the other frame is a copy. There is no friend with a good deal.I know I built these things.3 people have already PM'd me asking if they buying are my frame.3 people cant buy the same frame. My shop phone is 1-785-594-7481.I have everybody's name and locations of where my sub frames have gone. Thanks Scott Mock, and I am sorry that this mess is happening.
I did read and i see you stated the frames use c5/c6 parts. Are the coilovers also c6 right out of the box or do i have to modify them to get them to work? sorry for being redundant.
more eye candy please

If I am not mistaken, and may speak for Scott here, a 12" coilover is used. QA1, Strange, AFCO all make single or double adjustable coilovers that work great with this setup. I believe with Scott's setup we ran a 12" on our 69 Camaros. Scotts subframe comes with a upper coilover mount welded in and a lower that is used with the lower vette control arm can be made by Scott as well (not sure if it comes with the setup). Coilover bolts right in and shouldnt need to be modified. Hope I am not stepping on his toes here.

FYI/I use a 14.250 extended length coil over w/std. welded upper shock mount. If you have ordered the sub frame w/the optional ajustable upper shock mount you need to buy a coil over w/15.250 extended length.
