Hey guy's what do you think is the coolest car or build that has showed up here on Lateral-G.I know there is a ton of them.Just want to here other's opinion's.:lateral:The car that really got me going was when I saw Big Red for the first time. Then it was the Red Witch. But I was so heavy into the dirt bikes and go kart racing w/my son Kevin it was hard to find the time or the money to start a project. Then in 2001 Kevin broke his back practicing for the national champinships I knew we would not really be racing much anymore. At that time Mark S. was building the Mule in Pop Hot.Rodding.But since then there has been so many show up here it would be hard to chose.

Hmmm.....thats a tough one. For Ultimate PT car I'd have to say Red Witch.
As far as closer to race cars, I'm kinda likin' what Tyler is doing.
There's so many to choose from I wouldn't know where to begin. As a Lat-G newbie I've been very impressed with the caliber of membership, the craftsmanship, and creativity so many possess............not to mention the apparent abundance of financial resources. :D
I'll just say your car is one of many I idolize.

All of them... high end to low end, Everybody that has a need to create something or build it better to show or go is the best. You still do it even when times have been tuff for some of these guys. Thats dedication. There are some of the most creative cars going right now on this site(even the Camaro's  ). Gregs the only one with money..LOL

I think anything that comes out of Radrides is impressive now days. They have the talent in all disciplines of car car building. The nova build the owner posted on here a few years ago, kept me looking. Have you seen that 3rd gen camaro, I thought they were crazy, but man that thing is cool. There are alot of guys who have it together now days. Alan Johnson has built some nice cars, that last 69 is super cool.
I think James Shipka's camaro build was interesting, Not super crazy, just a nice car that got used like the owner said it would. He built a really nice car, that has shown to work. The dialing in he and the Pozzi's have done is almost more interesting to see then the build of the car. They put the car out there and openly showed the thought and ideas that went into making the car work.
I think don't think there is difference between homebuilders and guys who build cars for a living. Maybe experience and maybe access to tools. But look at Jason (#9) with the War project. That is his first build and he learned how to TIG and metal work himself since he is out of work and living off the system. :D But look at the results he has had, that car is awesome and his skills from carpentry I'm sure helped him pickup a new trade more easily. But in reality he has done most of the work on that car himself, with professional help and guidance. But really it is persistence and attention to small details that has allowed him to have the results he has had. I say all the time, anybody can do a nice job if they want to, they just have to put forth the effort. And that maybe easier said then done or not worth the effort. That might mean doing something twice or a hundred times. Talent only speeds up the process. Sure tools help, but if you can afford to build these cars in these economic times, you can afford proper tools. And it does not take fancy tools, just adequate tools. Fancy tools only speed up the process.
There are lots of guys who build a car in their garage and some body likes what they did and before you know it, someone whats you to do something, or the whole build for them. Take Youthpastor, Scott Mock, Josiah Coy and myself. All guys who started small and are doing the work for money.
The reason I like looking at Highend stuff is because it fuels the fire to improve. To me saying you prefer the average builds is like saying you wish Playboy had average girls I could get with in there. Heck no people look in there to see what they likely will never get, but man it still makes you try doesn't it.
But hay call me crazy, but nothing is never good enough. There is always better. Always.

I think you have to seperate the discussion into pro vs. hobby builds. All the above pro builds are very cool and I love looking at or hearing about them. Even your's Fernando (jk Bro!).
Some of the garage builds I admire the most - Todd's, Scott Mock's (he's a crossover imho) and the 'realbobjohnson'. That guy has done in his garage what most people would need Roger to do and more - like getting into the computer codes to debug the computer. He's a great guy, btw. Where you been Bob?
This thread could go on forever and that'd be fine w me....:lateral:
The beauty of hobby and pro builds is they both inspire the other. The builds on this site have definitely rekindled my passion and desire to take my car of 21 years to the next level.
Vendors take note, this is a powerful and targeted advertising medium. ;)
I'm just now getting into this stuff as my car has been sitting for over 20 years. I check this place out everyday to see what is going on. At this point, I'm collecting parts and learning by looking.
I would love to be able to hand mine off to one of the pros, but my wife would not understand the money missing. Every build on here ives me new insight on how to do something or makes me wish I could do that. All I ask is that everyone keep updating the threads so I can see more. As far as the coolest, I think I agree with others in the WAR is outstanding.
Thanks,

Very well put, Rodger said it all. I work on pro and home built cars and see alot of ideas that are worth remembering from both. Got one coming from Rad Rides at end of the month that they just cleaned up and corrected previous work. Still nice to see how its done. There are alot of street rod builders out there that are going full ahead on muscle cars that will be amazing with the skills they learned building rods. Should be another good show season. Someone needs to teach me how to TIG better..I suck with aluminum, Getting better somewhat..ha ha
Thanks for the mention of my car guys but I believe Scott said the coolest car on Lat-G and there are many. Although I have not seen it yet I would think that Stuarts car would be at the top of the list, a build book and DSE car.....yeah. Dave's Camaro and Eric's Nova at Ironworks are also going to be over the top builds. Rodger's going to have show those in bare metal for a while.
And aside from the cars, the fab work I've seen on here from these shops and others like BBT, Southrod, James at ABS, Robbie at Pacific(forgive me if I left some out, to many) is what is great about this site. Wish Bobby Waldon was on here, insane metal man. There's just alot of real nice cars on this site, Pro and garage built.
Great thread to start Scott. And your 69 was a great car, then you had to go sell it.
Rodger, timing is everything, it's just not mine. I'll recruit Compos Mentis for my dirty work.:D

WOW!! when I started this Thread I was hoping everbody would have one car that really made them go Wow!.Seems everybody has 3 or 4.But for me If I could only choose one and I had to keep it. It would be (The 72 camaro DSE built for Dale Jr.) Man I fell in love with that car from the moment I saw the spy photo's show up here on Lateral-G. Then when I saw the car at DSE's open house this last year WOW!!.I know there are aton of other great cars done and that are being built now on lateral-g,but I really like everything about that car.I just wish I didn't have to sell one finished car to start another one.Thank's everbody for chimming in. And thank's so much to those of you like what have built.I am just a Kansas farm boy trying to find my path in this world. :hail: Scott

i would also have to say dale jrs 72 camaro built by dse is one of my favorite cars. i have also seen this car in person and it is cool as s**t! I like pretty much everything dse builds but there are a ton of top notch builders and cars on this site. although the unlimited budget over the top builds are fun to watch I really like the homebuilt budget builds on here also...the small guys that do what they can with what they have. I fall into that category and i think its a pretty cool feeling to build a car with the resources you have and go out and thrash it and enjoy what you built. pretty cool when what you built at home in your garage can go out and run with guys like dse in an autocross.

Real car guys like 'em all.....
I've never seen a "well done" car I didn't like. I don't care who builds 'em. If they're done with care and attention to detail and someones heart is in it... then it's top notch. I've seen horrible "pro built" cars... and I've seen some 100% effort top notch home built cars.
Personally - I'm in favor of the ones where there is constant improvement. Cars like these are not meant to be static dust collectors... things change - new products - LT1's get replaced with LS1's etc. That floats my boat. That is how the hobby moves forward.
And for me -- favorites change -- Mule was #1 for many - then Jackass - now comes along Red Devil... etc. That's just one "thread" of cars and one type... and there are so many.
I like Rodgers Playboy analogy as well. Nobody really wants to spend a lot of time ogling plain vanilla stuff... or average stuff... I think we all love the super killer builds even if we can never have that kind of car or do that kind of work.
Forget the cars -- they just get us all together to have fun and BS.... That's the best "car" right there.

I second that motion on the Dale jr orange 2nd gen. That car got me to like 2nd gens. I liked the 2nd Gen Scott mock was building also. I got to see Stuart's 69 around Thanksgiving, Oh My. That car is crazy. I would pay 50 bucks for the build book for that car. That car is pretty intense. I also liked the Ring Brothers afterburner. I really really liked the hood on that car. There is a charger the Roadster shop has kept quiet, but I saw pictures somewhere from an open house and that thing was crazy also. I like the shoebox nova DSE is building for Gordon, the owner of Jet Hott. That car is going to be really bitchin.
Thanks for the compliments on some of our work. We have some pretty cool projects we have been working that have some great potential. Maybe If I did not keep Eric so busy in Solidworks on these frames he could work on his own project. Some of the others just need the economy to come back to get them rolling at a faster pace. As you all know if you want something nice it takes time. Thanks again for the compliments, we are just Bakersfield boys trying to do the best job we can.

its too bad that Dan Holohan didnt get to finish the creative and awesome metal work that STARTED Stuarts 69 on the path it was on.He also had a hand in the Dale Jr car .
What is great is that Dan has is own shop HOLOHANS HOT ROD SHOP there in Mooresville. So look for more exciting cars to pop up soon coming out of that shop.

I love both of those cars... although I would have to be very honest and say I was not impressed with the way the C1RS ran or handled at Optima - but I chalked that up to "sorting issues" rather than quality. Every piece of that car was sick!
I had visited (with Bob Braga and Ned Jackson) Steve Stropes shop while Matt was busy sanding parts to make molds for the Mustang -- and there isn't a piece of that car that isn't just super hi-tech and super cool. There's so much going on with this build that nobody sees. The electric power steering - the cantilevered shocks etc... it's just way over the top in a very quiet way.
I agree with you though -- there are just so many great car builds here and I love them all.

For me, I don't think I could narrow it down to one particular car on here. I get inspired and jazzed up when I see homebuilt cars all the way up to the higher-end shops with their infinite amount of design and fabrication talents. At the same time, I like seeing the finished products, but also like to see changes people make with rides as time goes on.(i.e. Todd's Camaro-Payback, he is always doing tweaks.) Doug's Camaro-Apollo 13 is also cool because Doug does things as he can and keeps the car on the road, yet has a sweet ride IMO. The stuff put out by Roadster Shop, Detroit Speed, Ring Brothers, Rad Rides etc is awesome and inspiring as well.

LOL, I guess I am not the only one eh? I have been building BMW's for a long time and have always had the passion for muscle cars (it's how I started).
I thoroughly enjoy reading both style of threads, home vs pro.
I think Rodger hit the nail on the head, we all look to the high end builds to inspire us, and incorporate them into our own projects.
I know I do and try to bring them in to my world.
But truly it's the people on this forum that are amazing. The camaraderie and support is very special.

For me it is also Bob Johnson's G-Force Cuda - however I have to add the caveat that a lot of these beautiful awesome cars might not drive as nicely as you imagine in your head. I say this based on my own experiences putting all the right parts together and still feeling a little stymied - by which I mean comparing the driving experience to a modern OEM car. I'm not saying all, I'm just saying that once you've been around the internet, your own projects, and learn to read between the lines in the magazines or read followup articles, a lot of "beauty queen" cars have flaws like everything else - leaks, noise, etc. For example the Matt/Anvil Mustang - totally awesome right ? But even the articles mention the interior mounted cantilever shocks are loud and I would imagine, kind of annoying in normal driving (which is the point some of the time ?).
So, I kind of think that the G-force would be so godawful loud I wouldn't be able to think, and probably a bit hot to boot, not to mention the gas pedal area being raised in what looks to me an awkward manner.
And anyone that spends time on the track knows it beats the crap out of the car and gets dirt and debris on everything, so when I see a perfect car I really wonder how much track time it would survive.
My real point is not to disparage anything, but just to say I couldn't really pick out a favorite car without driving them all first !
Going now to find a link somewhere to this "WAR" car. Haven't heard of that one before.
