I cant get the corsa db red series muffs since there discontinued. Could really use a suggestion on a muff that has minimum drone. Going behind an LS7.

Thanks Rich

Thanks Stuart- Im going to assume that you have them on your 69 Ls7, are they reasonably mellow while cruising and do you have full tail pipes out the back.

I just dont want the thing to be obnoxious while cruising a long distance, of course we want it to roar when in the gas.

Thanks Rich

Have you heard anything from Spintech? I have them behind my LS1 and I hopefully I will be putting them on my Camaro soon also

Tj - I dont know if there are different styles of spintech, but the ones I heard on a friends 55 were so loud I thought the earth was shaking. I could hear him coming from a mile away.

I think my choices are narrowed down to either borla, magna flow, and stainless works. The question is which one will be the most mellow at cruise rpm.

Thanks Rich

I like the sound on my LS7 camaro that I had. But they sound good on all the DSE cars that I've driven in. Im sure there are others but Borla is a good sound IMO. Good luck. I think Scott has spintech and they sound good also.

Stuart - Scott has the corsa red series mufflers on his car, I emailed him a week ago. I cant believe they discontinued that package, no doubt a high quality piece, they put a ton of effort into the noise cancellation hardware inside the case. I think it just cost them to much to build it.

I've been looking at the spintechs.... Mostly because I can get one with a 3 inch case. ALOT of people say the spintechs are too loud.... But the issue I have with that is that they have alot of different models ranging from a full race version to a quiet street version. So when someone states they are too loud , it would be nice to know which version they are referring to

Scott had Spinntechs at first, my bad. He said they were real loud, and age thing LOL. I wouldn't like loud either, age thing, LOL.

Will CR have an effect on how loud a particular engine will be? Say an ls7 with race gas only level CR as opposed to pump gas CR? Exhaust will be 3 inch with x-pipe. I'm looking for loud obnoxoius hear you from blocks away sound! I want car alarms going off etc! Lol! I don't plan on going on long drives so quiet isnt a factor:D

Magnaflow has my vote! I would run the tail pipes all the way out the back so it doesnt resignate.

Charlie- do you know if you guys are running the turbo xl or the xr1? More than likely 3 inch in/out

Thanks Rich

I think Charlie is running the quiet Pro XS on JA with 3" to the rear, Mark is running some older XR-1s on RD, and DSE runs the 12" XR-1s on most of their cars. The research that I have done tells me that the Pro XS mufflers are the quietest, but still sound good when you lay the hammer down. I have the part # that DSE uses if you need it.

Thanks - I would really like that part number, Is the pro xs a straight through design were you can look in one side and see out the other.

Thanks again Rich

Thanks RichFrom what everyone was saying about them I was a little scared of them being too loud also, so I got the Pro street series. Even before I got them welded in, the installer said to me "boy are these going to be loud", and that was just from looking at them. Once i fired the car up, we both looked at each other with a WTF look.

I didn't want it as loud as my BB Camaro with my 2 chamber Flowmasters (literally hear that thing well over a mile away), but to be honest I was a little bummed that they sounded as quiet as they did. They were barely louder than my stock GM exhaust. I think they will be a great improvement over the Flows (quieter and less drone), on my Camaro though, when I put them behind the big block

Yes both are straight thru, the Pro XS come in 14" and are engineered to be quieter have offset in and centered out which is easy to plumb and fits under a Camaro perfect. The XR-1s come in 16" and 12", 16" are tight to install in a Camaro. I have the part #s at home and will get back with you later this evening with it.

Tony, That looks good, do you run a Quad link in your car? I was wondering how the magna flow tail pipes fit.

Im thinking the pro xs will do the job, I need head pipes and an X-pipe, I was going to dump at the axle but tails would be nice. Theres just bars every where in the back.

Appreciate the info - Rich

Those cars belong to other members here, just some of the research
I've been doing to pick the right muffler the first time. I am waiting for the Pro XS mufflers I ordered to get here.
The XR1s that DSE use part #40943
