I am trying to decide on whether or not to use a rear seat in my car. It is a 69 camaro, mini tubbed with a 6 point roll bar. I will never have a rear seat passenger due to the roll bar. The rest of the interior is Marquez door panels, dse dash, recaro sport seats in black leather. My dilemma is do I do a rear seat even if its useless or will the car appear unfinished without a rear seat. Would love to see pics of cars without a rear seat for ideas. Thanks!

I debated whether to try to finish off the back of my 2nd gen without a seat and decided I liked the look of a seat better even though no one could get in there even if they wanted to. (Nor would I allow a passenger back there anyway) The seatback was modified and the lower cushions are just foam wrapped with the upholstery.

Here is Charlie's 69 Jackass and what was done for the rear seat area.

I wonder if you could a custom single seat in the rear, might put that single passenger far enough away from the roll bars if they were centered. Just a thought.

Thanks, That's the sort of ideas I'm looking for. A rear seat would probably take less time and fabrication, but something like this would actually be usefull.

I considered two smaller bucket seats like the latest GTOs had, but the roll bar would make it very difficult to get back there even if I could make it safe.

I have 2 small boys that I do plan on letting ride in the back seat. My plan(at the time) is to have 2 small buckets and possibly put harnesses back there. Maybe this could be an option for you. Just a thought

This is just after squeezing the seat in..... it was ridiculously difficult getting in!

This is what we did. Jake also installed the accusump and fire system on the shelf.

Hopefully I will be to see you at some events this year. Making some changes to my car as well, but I don"t think I will have anything for you. Maybe you will let me wipe the sweat off your brow after you run. LOL

Have any pics of the fire system and accusump mounted?

I also am trying to determine what to do with mine. I was wondering what is the acceptable material to block off without a seat? It looks like Jackass is aluminum? I know many use sheet metal and I have also seen wood used. Does anybody have any feedback if wood is a no no? It seems if you just have a seat it just fabric. Or what gauge sheet metal. PSV sorry for the hijack....

If you have a roll bar, the back seat is useless with or without a back seat.

The variable that I feel exists for resale is the potential buyer won't realize the back seat is a cranium cracker. :D I'd personally never let anyone ride in my back seat but this is a free country last time I checked. Well not free with inflation and the cost of living increases....:unibrow:

Vinny's look with a storage setup similar to Jackass would be nice. You could fab a lock-down system on the shelf for a couple of removable aluminum storage boxes.
