Info is a bit hard to come by, but yes it does appear they are using an E32 HID kit on the Chevelle (http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=29931).

The kits online seem to include everything you need to wire them up (e.g. ballast). It should be possible to wire up these kits to an existing switch / power supply. Mounting them and fitting up any trim pieces seems like it would be the most time consuming. I'm planning on a similar mod to my Firebird, but that is years down the road so I haven't tackled it yet.

Here is an example of a kit available online. (http://www.protuninglab.com/hid-pro-yd-bmwe34-cl-c.html)

Unfortunately I don't have an E32, but some research online said they were about 140mm in diameter (5.5 in).

Otherwise, you can get Hella modules in 90mm (http://www.rallylights.com/Hella_90mm_Halogen_and_Xenon_HID_Headlamp_Modules. aspx) and I believe 100mm.

Here is another link (http://www.germanspecparts.com/7+Series/Headlights/)to E32 lights with other options (smoked, chrome, xenon, etc).

Note that the more advanced you get the harder the installation is likely to be. For example, if you are just planning to go halogen, you are probably better off getting a kit if possible for your car. Installation would be easy. If you want a xenon kit with angel eyes, installation is likely to be much more difficult. Especially if any kind of auto leveling or height sensing is built into the headlight like the EU requires.

I have an E34 M5, and the light housings with the adjuster tangs are built into the lights themselves. You can see what what they look like when disassembled in this pic, and how they are very deep. They will take some serious adapting. They do have a beautiful cut off however.

Shiny Side UP!
