Plans are a 6.0 with a T70 front mount or heads/cam and a T56 or maybe an auto. Body is in awesome shape with only one rust hole on the quarter. Interior all there but really not usable, most likely switching to black anyways. My 18's from the 70 are going on there also and I have a clean rear bumper along with a shaker hood in the back of the truck. It's going to get a 77 nose also.

It has the original turbocharged 301 that's on it's last leg, it will be coming right out. I wanted to run the 6.0 on the original trans until it blew but I think the trans went out just putting it on the dolly. To be honest I am glad the motor is blown, it gives me a reason to actually go through with putting a built motor in. The towing with the F250 is awesome also.

Good choice Trey, car looks in great state, and I like the project... Why didn't you keep the old Trans anyway?

Good choice Trey, car looks in great state, and I like the project... Why didn't you keep the old Trans anyway? I was 16, no cash and needed a better daily driver because I hated my V6 Camaro, selling it was my only option to get something nice.

Got a little bit done today, I've never pulled a motor before and man was that a BITCH! Got the front bumper, hood and wheels on also, car is gonna look sick when it is finished, not to bad for a days work I guess.

I like it. I want to do a 80-81 rear end with a 77-78 nose too. I want to find a way to do a center exhaust exit and get the stance right. I am doing a 6.0L LQ4 into a 74 Firebird, so I will be following along closely on this one. Rushforth's look great on there.

Not trying to steal your idea or anything haha.

I was suppose to get my LQ4 today but I couldn't get my damn tailgate open.

Are you going to switch the taillights and bumper to 77/78?

Looking good there Trey so did you sell newer camaro you had to? Pulling a motor is the fun part I think it's putting in one that was not suppose to go there and getting it right with all other goodies that can be a pain. Brandon

you can steal my idea on the CME. I have always liked the SS option CME on the fourth gens. I am unsure how it would work out with the gas tank, but it is a cool idea. The 74 may get a similar treatment if I can pull it off, a rear diffuser would be nice too. Post up pics if you mock it up. Leave the later model rear on it and do a smoothed taillight treatment, that would look awesome.

What I would do is get a Camaro CME exhaust and make your own lower valence and it should look great. I don't have time for it though haha.

Took me about 5 hours to get the motor out today, I dropped it off and got some cash for it so I am happy. I hope the 6.0 isn't as much of a pain in the ass to get in as the 301 was to get out. Was fun though, I learned a lot today during my first motor pull.

Oh yeah the car is in the body line now, shouldn't be long.

Do you know which engine plates you are going to use yet. I have the same setup going into mine.

TreySmith

The motor has the mounts on it from the chassis side so I am probably just going to weld those to the frame. Either that or buy some steel and print out a template.

Started setting the motor in to see how it would look, manifolds got in the way but the motor looks like it will be right at home in there. Tomorrow I am going to take the manifolds off, set it in there and start fabbing up the mounts. This weekend I am going to take the fenders off and degrease/ paint the bay. Going to paint the water pump and other stuff black. Right now I am going to start diggin into the harness.

Right on Trey! I am glad to see you digging into another one!
There are motor mount available for your install there. Oil pan and headers too.
PM me if you need a list of vendors/parts/sources for stuffing that motor in there.
Dont forget the fuel and cooling systems too.
Those Rushforths look great on it!

I got the whole fuel system set up but then the starter went out a couple weeks ago so I haven't really messed with the car. To be honest I am too busy chasing girls right now.

A little JB Weld on that starter.....fix it right up! ;)

It's been a while. Any ways quick summary, blew up the oil engine, installed a new one and oh yeah the transmission let go too... Didn't know I could do that much damage in 5 feet.

Anyways I just finally got it all back together. I am about to get some radiator hoses and that's all it needs.
