I've wondered the same thing. I doubt Eastwood developed their own sound deadener/insulation, but I could be wrong. I would bet it is probably Dynamat rebranded with Eastwood's name on it.

+1 on the FatMat. I had bought mine a coupla years ago and it sat in a box all that time. Took it out thinking the adhesive had all dried up but the stuff is sticking like a champ. This is my first time using a product like this and I'm relieved it's so easy to cut, shape, and apply.

But it's not dynamat. Not bashing fatmat, but there are differences. Cleary both Dynamat and Second Skin are far superior products from a factual perspective. Whether there is sufficient increased value for the additional price is a personal decision. Fatmat may work out pefectly for people in many cases. But make no mistake, they (Dynamat and Second Skin) are superior products. I have installed all 3.

The second skin Damplifier Pro is some really awesome stuff. The adhesion is second-to-none and the foil backing is very thick. Apparently testing has shown it works well from an acoustic standpoint too.

I also used their Heat Wave product in crucial firewall and toe-board areas, could not be happier with the improvement that made.

I am all for saving money where you can, but I think this may be an example of getting what you pay for. Especially in the roof and door panel areas where you have to demand that the product stick forever!
