View Full Version : HAWT van
I just purchased a 2001 Chevy Express 1500 w/Cobra conversion package. We had been needing a big family roadtrip machine for a while and this one fit the bill. I plan to pint the van a sollid color, (probably black) upgrade the brakes to something larger, and add some nice rims and tires. Ok so I started out on the line drawing and thought it would be cool to see what a Caddy front clip might look like. Below are the line drawings with stock front end and with a Caddy clip. I will most likely brush both versions out to completion. Have a look.

Started brushing the van black with the Caddy clip on, started liking that exspensive change a little to much so I went back to finishing the stock grille.

that thing actually looks pretty damn good. I personally like the chevy grill on it a lot with teh red bow tie. keep it up man, the renderings look great.
Yeah I digg that Chevy front end, but I look at it and it still dosent loook right, What I have for a bumper is a one piece cover with a seperate air dam, what it needs, is a fulle chrome bumper, tucked and hand shaped, I drew it with 20s but am thinking about doing a diffent sixze, maybe as low 17 with big ass rear meats. The guy I talked to about the one way tint for the rear glass is trying to talk me into wrapping the whole body, I played with it on a copy of this, it kinda looks cool, for a billboard.

I'm diggin the dare to be different Caddy clip. I've seen this done to Astro vans and it looks cool. Trouble is it's an Astro and it doesn't seem to fit as though it came that way, doubt upper end folks would drive an Astro. On the other hand, a full size conversion Caddy van makes perfect sense. I say do it. :D
Yeah I have done two of the Caddy conversions on Chevy trucks for a couple of guys. I thought they looked pretty cool. Thing is it is an almost bolt on conversion for the trucks, for a van, I would still need to buy the entire kit but cut the leading edges from the hood and fenders and weld them to my existing fenders and hood, the figure out core support and bumper changes. With the kits just north of 1200.00 these days and not being a simple bolt on, I may just swap the grill out with a GMC grill and change up the bumper/air dam a little.
